I have chosen to eat at this restaurant based on the good reviews, but my experience was an all around bad one, both with food and the service. I walked into a completely empty restaurant, and was greated by a waiter that wanted to advise that since I do not have a reservation, I could not stay for a very long time. This was perfectly fine with me, as I didn't have more than an hour anyway. What I did find strange is that amost half an hour later, there was another walk-in who was simply seated, and not advised about time restrictions at all, even though he also did not have a reservation.

I have chosen to order Danish meatballs, and was served rather quickly. However, the meatballs tasted as if there was barely any meat in them. Very disappointing culinary experience, not worth the money.

Then, when I was supposed to pay for the meal, another rather strange thing happened - there was a second waiter that brought the terminal for paying with the card, he typed in the amount, left the terminal on my table and walked away. This was the first time that something like this has happened to me. Due to some error, the terminal could not charge my card the first time I tried it, and I was left there to figure it out for myself looking at what was written on the terminal in a language I did not understand.

The restaurant itself looks cozy, but I would definitely not recommend it, neither for food nor...

After 4 days of travelling wonderful Copenhagen and enjoying the great hospitality of the many establishments and people of this great city, we chanced upon this establishment which was well reviewed though we noted some Google reviews and comments that speak about unfriendly staff and perhaps hints of Non color blindness.

We walked in for an early dinner and asked if there was table for 4, noting that close to 3/5ths of the restaurant was empty and was turned away citing no tables. A quick attempt as we stood outside to confirm our hunch showed that there were tables to be had via their website at the time we were there and the next 2 time slots after that so I'll leave it as that. A quick check on my reviewer history would reveal I never leave bad reviews, this is my first and hopefully my last.

Perhaps I've made a mistake, however my travel companions pretty much were rubbed the same way and this is a bunch that travels alot so I'm leaving this here as it's our anecdotal experience.

As Asians, do attempt a visit with a Plan B in mind and I hope your experiences would be better than what we had. We certainly had a better time...

We had a long layover at the Copenhagen Airport on our way back to the US. 8 metro stops on M 2 plus 1 change to M3 and M4 gets you to this restaurant in 15 to 20 minutes.

This was a busy day for them being a Saturday but they managed to find a table for us. Very friendly employees. Great recommendations for the Smorgasbord which is what they serve here.

This restaurant is in a building the was built in 1773 after a fire destroyed the original building. The floor is not at a level and they managed to keep the original constructs.

They have options for vegans/vegetarians too. I loved my herring sandwich Ruth's herring from Christiansø. Not something that I had tasted before. Vegetarians will like the humus open sandwich with baked tomatoes, pickled pumpkin and pumpkin seeds.

I realized we have to eat this with a fork and knife instead of with our hands.

A good draft beer on tap and other dry drinks.

Location of the restaurant is great next to the Slotsholmens Kanal with a view of Christiansborg Palace and Thorvaldsens Museum.

You should visit to get a feel of...

We visited 1733 on our last night in Copenhagen, we hadn't planned on it as we were travelling with our teen children which tends to limit restaurant options but they were tired and wanted to head back to the room with a McDonalds leaving us free for a date night. Having not planned anything we wondered the streets peering in various establishments before stumbling across this absolute gem! The service was fantastic, all the waiters were friendly, attentive and happy to engage in some banter. The venue was cosy with a great atmosphere and the menu was great with what I imagine would be slightly more traditional Danish dishes than the vast majority of venues we passed seemed to offer. I settled for the Danish meatballs and my wife had the chopped steak these were served with a huge jug of thick lovely gravy, potatoes and a variety of really tasty pickles. In addition to all of this the price was reasonable (for Copenhagen), roughly £110 for the 2 of us with wine & coffee. In short - highly recommended I'll definitely be back on subsequent visits to this fantastic city!
