Where to begin? Yesterday my wife and I celebrated her birthday at your restaurant, and I’d like to tell you how it went.
At the start, we were welcomed by a very kind waitress who seated us and told us about the fish of the day. She said it was sea bream and that she could debone it for us if we wished. A great beginning – before the disaster that followed!
We ordered Iberico with blueberry BBQ, papadam with truffle mayonnaise and pecorino, and carpaccio with perilla. However, there was no bread with the carpaccio, which we had to order separately. The papadam was excellent, but the Iberico with blueberry BBQ made no sense at all. It was like eating pork neck steak with blueberry jam. Nonsense! The carpaccio was quite dry, and again, we had to pay extra for bread. I believe dishes should be served complete.
Then came the main course: the fish, which was supposed to be sea bream for two, deboned. Instead, it was a whole mackerel. A confused waiter presented it to us as sea bream. I told him it was not sea bream but mackerel. He replied: “Yes, you’re right, the sea bream is finished.” On top of that, the fish was completely overcooked. The senior waiter who brought it got offended, gave us a nasty look, took the fish away without an apology, and never communicated with us again. He completely ruined the birthday evening for us.
The steak with pistachios was also completely cold!
Thankfully, another waiter – the tattooed one – tried to save the situation. He was excellent, offering us three desserts on the house as compensation. But when I asked for the bill, the fish and the three desserts (which were supposed to be complimentary) were all included. I pointed this out, and he reprinted the bill, removing the fish, but the desserts were still charged. Only on the third attempt was the bill correct.
I must also mention that three tables around us got up and left during the evening, clearly after similar experiences.
To be completely honest: I am a head chef in a Michelin-starred restaurant, and I haven’t witnessed such a disaster in a long time. I would immediately remove you from any guide and strongly suggest you speak with the arrogant senior waiter who overstays his time there and creates a toxic atmosphere for guests who trust you and come to spend money on your food.
I would never return and I would never recommend your restaurant to anyone. In one word – what you are doing is a disgrace.

Read moreI wanted to like this place so badly, but I left hungry and mad that I wasted the money. Ambiance and location were cute, staff was nice... But that food just missed the mark. As a solo traveler I had 3 items (1 starter and 2 small plates) and the timing was so uneven spaced I was waiting 20-30 min between each plate. I ordered the bikini toast which was toasted so lovely but there was SO MUCH truffle taste. It wasn't pleasant. The next was the potatoe waffle with a crab salad. My idea of a potato waffle is much like a potato pancake but done in a crispy fashion. I'm expecting dense and hot and salty but this could have been any flavorless waffle from a street vendor. The Crab salad had so much creme fraiche that it honestly felt like I was eating a spoonful of creme /mayonnaise with a hint of crab. It was a very unpleasant bite considering I was hoping for a dense salty crispy potatoe waffle and crab.... And I got airy dough with creme. Last was grilled langoustines. The aoili served with it was so flavorless. Not a hint of garlic. Barely any meat to the langoustine. By the time I finally got the dish I was irked, and the very crunchy toast "croutons" just were too hard to be pleasant. Concept of this place is great. But this was a disappointment for my...
Read moreI was visiting København in September. I absolutely need to talk about this great restaurant!
I wanted to walk around the canals and find a quick meal before my flight back home to Chicago. I just looked at google maps and explored Christianshavn cause it looked pretty. I happened to come across Kanalen and was happy to see that they had a lunch special on their menu (in english for someone like me).
The people working there were super friendly and welcoming! I can talk about the food for a long time because it was so delicious!!! I really wanted to give a big praise about the dessert because the plum and almond crumble tasted exactly like my favorite dessert my elderly neighbor used to make my family when I was a young little kid.
This place truly spoiled me with its wonderful food and serene ambiance and I will absolutely visit again and hopefully being people with if I’m ever back in København!!!! (I apologize for the number of...
