Really disappointing. We booked well in advance to come here for lunch but wish we hadn't. We spent around £125 and had a bad time. We had the elderflower herring, grilled summer onions, fried plaice and beef tartare. We also ordered beer and snaps. They have a good range of both and we enjoyed some Mikeller beer and house rye snaps.

First they served the elderflower herring and the grilled summer onions. The portion of herring was fairly generous but it had a lot of creme fraiche on it and overall didn't taste of very much. It was just wet. The grilled summer onions were okay but the duck egg promised by the menu is just a mayonnaise so there wasn't that much going on. Again it was weak in flavour.

After this we seemed to get forgotten and it took over 30 minutes to get our next two sandwiches. We were really hungry and quite fed up by this time. People that arrived after us were still getting courses they had ordered. They apologised for the delay but didn't explain the cause. The fillet of plaice was really salty and it had some sort of sauce poured over it which made it really wet. This was a real shame as fried plaice is a Danish classic and usually delicious. The beef tartare was really tender but again lacking in flavour and seasoning. We didn't finish either of these dishes. When they cleared the table they asked if we had enjoyed the food and we said we didn't think it had been very good and the wait had been too long. They didn't respond to this at all. Normally they would ask more questions or maybe take something off the bill if you didn't like it or eat it but they didn't seem interested.

The food looks beautiful and maybe it's just made for Instagram and not flavour. The service was really bad. If you want great smørrebrød then go to Aamanns 1921 or Told &...

Interesting place, where to start! First of all the concept sounds super fun so when going to Copenhagen we thought we must try. To begin with it was me and my wife plus our 1 year old baby and I have made a reservation for only two. The host wasn't too pleased with this , understandably so, so she moved us to a bigger table. The waitress herself wasn't super nice to us, which made the experience 3 star from the very beginning. We had chosen the menu option when booking, when she checked on this, i asked if it was possible to have many courses at the same time so we wouldn't need to be there for the 2.5 hours, she checked with the kitchen but that was not possible. I again, understand that, we are not being the easiest customers here but when we ordered a la carte which was basically the same items, its basically came all at the same time. ( ....?) .

Now onto the food, we took 3 Smorbrod each to share. The first three was the fish course and that was super tasty. Beautifully presented , like art. The waiter often poured some brown butter on everything with took to the next level. After eating the first 3 we received the next 3 , and at this stage it felt like a little too much bread as there is a thick slice of bread on every course ( of course there is , its smorbrod after all), the next 3 was a little less nice.

I felt that the concept sounded better than what it actually delivered and value wise when the bill was over 233€ with a couple glasses of wine was a little steep.

All in all, i kinda feel i should try that again, as we were both a little annoyed about the service as we felt we annoyed them from the start. But for 235€ there are many nicer options around CPH. 3stars out...

Update 15.07.2025, even though we were notified that the money will be returned it has now been a month and the money is still not returned.

1 star review because we experienced a DOUBLE THEFT from the guy that was responsible for the payment. Then we wrote an email and we didn't get any response from the restaurant about the mishandling of the payment. Ignoring the problem won't make it disappear, enjoy your 80% tip and see us never again!

Last Friday (23rd May 2025), me and my fiancée went into this place and had a wonderful dinner.

Unfortunately, when it came time to do the payment we were unfairly charged more than we intended.

First of all, the payment machine printed some weird words (I don't understand Danish) which I confused with the usual message for PIN code. Due to this, I unknowingly input a 70% tip (the employee didn't tell me what the message meant).

I realised the mistake when I got a notification from the bank with the invoice and immediately came back in the restaurant.

Then the same employee told me that they would return the whole amount (~195€), so then we paid once again with a 10% tip (as much as I intended in the first place).

But now I see that the employee again tricked me by providing a return amount of the base price, so practically we came back to input another 10% tip, making it a full 80% tip on the whole price?!

This is unfair and ruined our...

We had read that Selma has the best smorrebrod, and that is most definitely true. We were very lucky to have gotten a seat, as we did not have reservations. We tried 4 different smorrebrod, and they were all absolutely delicious. First was Matjes herring, with brown butter, creme fraiche, and lovage. All are served on the traditional dense rye bread, I should note. The flavor combination was sensational! The next smorrebrod was herb salted salmon, served with tiny onions, dill, and mustard. This was beautifully presented and just scrumptious. The hot plaice smorrebrod was served with a shrimp, trout roe, and red onion topping. This was lovely! Finally we had the smorrebrod with warm pork neck meat with apple, pureed brussel sprouts, and black currant. Our server suggested their brown butter snaps, which was perfect. My husband had a brown ale also, which was an excellent accompaniment. What a fantastic lunch. I cannot recommend this place more highly!! The interior is bright, with yellow and flowers, and the service was impeccable! Do make reservations! It is worth securing a table in advance!

Our trip to the restaurant was marked by the worst in recent times. We always use Michelin guide recommendations when traveling. But in this restaurant we were met by such boorish staff, in particular the girl Clara. We made a reservation on May 24, came to resooan on June 4 and were told that there was no table on the ground floor where there was no one, they took us to the basement, where it was very stuffy! We asked to be transplanted - they offered us so much on the street, it took 15 minutes while we went back and forth, but the tables on the ground floor were empty. Then an angry Clara came and told us that if we don't like something, we have the right to leave. Pointing to the door. For the first time we encountered such an attitude, we stayed - because we chose the recommendation according to taste, and we wanted to try herring and local beer, we succeeded. But the staff disappointed us greatly! Call immediately and find out in which hall they are going to put you!
