A visit to Copenhagen wouldn’t be complete without sampling a local specialty like smørrebrød - an open-faced sandwich topped with variety of toppings, from cold cuts, meat, to cheese. And Hallerness smørrebrød in Torvehallerne is the go-to spot for tourist, albeit slightly pricey. You can always tell where the good food is by the length of the lines and this one had no shortage of it. I opted the seafood smørrebrød specifically the Salmon Salad, which cost 115 DK - approximately 15 Euros - certainly not cheap considering its palm-sized portion, but the quality did not disappoint. It was freshly made, beautifully presented and deliciously refreshing. The complexity of its flavours for a simple dish was just amazing. Each bite offered a delightful combination of flavors, from the trout roe and capers to the salmon. You can compliment your smørrebrød with other offerings from the other stalls in the Torvehallerne too.

But the fish filet (125 DKK. About $17 USD) was crisp on the outside and delicate on the inside. There are 2 filets per smorrebrod for this particular flavor.
I ate at the counter and watched the staff as they fried the fish in butter. There are about 10 counter seats with stools around the spot. Or you can take your purchase outdoors to eat, which I recommend in the...
