Decent sushi restaurant in the heart of Odense. The atmosphere and interior design is very cozy and pretty, and cocktails are amazing as well, but sushi was average I would say. Tempuras were very small for example. So we are glad we decided to go for the all inclusive deal for 270 krones because otherwise we would have still been hungry. The service with all inclusive menu is organised from the tablet from the table. So you order yourself. On one hand, it is easy solution, but on the othet hand the ordering system was confusing. Also, the time for this dinner is only 2 hours and we were basically pushed out because new people had arrived already. It should be at least 3 hours. And drinks-dessertd are not included in the all inclusive price by the way.
Also, many things we ordered never arrived - wasabi, ginger, water. Also, at first we didn't see any hangers for the coats so we just left them on the chair and then we were asked to go put them in the wardrobe without telling us where it is even. And in the end we wanted to split the bill for 3 of us and there was also some confusion with the payments. So, all in all, I would say that this restaurant seemingly looks nice and fancy with waiters well-dressed but actually all the details are lacking.

I understand products are more expensive now, but that's not how other sushi restaurants do it, so it is a bit of a surprise. Looks like they just put the same salmon piece they'd use for a normal sushi roll, and it's not how it should be done with Sashimi.. It should be thick and rich in flavour, which we unfortunately did not get to experience, especially for this price. Our edamame beans were semi cold and hard to chew, could be because we ordered a take away, who knows, it could've got cold on the way, even though our address wasn't far from the restaurant. Would also appreciate the bigger amount of ginger, we were 2 people and the amount received was barely enough for 1. Vi havde set frem til en hyggelig og stilfuld fødselsdagsmiddag hos Koi Sushi, og bestilte bord en hel måned i forvejen – med en venlig anmodning om flag og et godt bord. Hvad vi i stedet fik, var en gennemført rodet, upersonlig og en ukontaktbar oplevelse, pakket ind i larm og uventet citronglace.
Allerede ved ankomsten stod vi og ventede forvirrede – ingen tog imod os. Da vi blev vist hen til et bord, af en ellers venlig tjener, var det restaurantens absolut dårligste: lige ved døren, hvor det trak ind. Ingen introduktion, ingen forklaring på bestilling, en minimal følelse af imødekommende nærvær. Vi blev bare sat, og så sad vi der – i ti lange minutter – uden nogen som helst form for opmærksomhed fra personalet. Vi måtte selv gå op til personalet og bede om hjælp til at komme igang med at bestille. Flaget? Det dukkede op – men først 5 minutter efter vi tog fat i personalet anden gang.
Vi bad om et andet bord, og fik det heldigvis –trods alt. Servicen hele aftenen bar præg af mangel på overblik. Vi tror at der var alt for få på arbejde, hvilken kunne mærkes særligt i starten af vores besøg.
Og nu til noget af det værste. Musikken var absurd høj. Det føltes mere som et forsøg på at ligne en natklub end en sushi-restaurant. Samtale ved bordet var nærmest umulig. Atmosfæren var stressende og forjaget – alle gæster måtte råbe for at høre hinanden.
Maden? En blandet oplevelse. Enkelte retter var velsmagende, men flere var decideret skuffende. Den største nedtur var en uramaki med ebi – som burde have været sprød og lækker, men i stedet var blød, slatten og direkte uappetitlig. Derudover var en påtrængende citronglace, måske deres bud på teriyakisauce, hældt over en lang række retter – uden at det på noget tidspunkt fremgik af menuen. Det kunne altså ikke fravælges, medmindre man på forhånd vidste, at man skulle spørge – hvilket er både misvisende og uprofessionelt.
Vi gik derfra med en følelse af at være blevet overset. Det er både en “desværre for os”- oplevelse - men helt klart mest desværre for Koi. Vi kommer aldrig igen, og vi vil ikke anbefale stedet til nogen – slet ikke, hvis der er noget at fejre. En særlig lejlighed drukner i citron, ukoordineret service og alt for høj...
