Dropped in for dinner here first night in Cairo. In short, very high price and very poor. The servers were so inattentive you basically have to wave at them every time you need something. To order, if you need anything during your meal, for your bill. The food was very average. Nothing special. We ordered a soup, salad and a pot of tea. The tea was just normal tea bags that they put in the pot. Not loose leaf nice tea or properly steeped, just total run of the mill. When the server asked if we wanted water I asked for tap water to indicate that I would be happy to take water, but I don't want to pay equivalent of $10 for a bottle of nestle water, but they nevertheless cracked us a new bottle of the special water. The salad was at least large in size and filling but not particularly good tasting, not aesthetically pleasing and does not use any impressive cooking technique. Served in a broken bowl. After they took the dishes we could see a line of oil on the tablecloth where the oil seeped through. The soup was a bunch of vegetables which were made into melon ball shapes with a rosemary vegetable broth. The vegetables were nicely cooked but neither them nor the broth were particularly tasty. Also the rosemary (which was an entire sprig left inside to steep in the soup) left a very bitter flavour after sitting in the soup. The soup should be flavoured how the chef wants it before its served to the customer. I don't understand why you would leave raw herbs in the actual customer's bowl. There was bread served to the table which was quite nice, with butter as well as an oil and balsamic dip. They didn't seem to remotely care how we felt about the meal after subtlety indicating dissatisfaction, but after outright complaining about a dish they were good enough to take it off the bill. We managed to get out relatively unscathed by the bill, but certainly...
Read moreWhat started off as an intention for a nice family dinner turned into an extremely disappointing outing ... When making a reservation, the team give you the impression that they are overbooked and if you miss your booking time...you will not get a good table. We arrived on time and got seated at a nice table overlooking the Nile... Nice atmosphère but the live singing caused us to shout over the kroaky voice of the performer...Thankfully, after 15 mins the live music ended and it felt great being the only guests at the restraunt.. We ordered octupus as starter and mushroom soup... The soup turned out very bad and asked to replace it..inedible. Once done with starters ..the shrimp raviolis were brought on... First ever experience where the ravioli is cooked with shelled shrimps... Very average tasting, and cold...and had to request them to try and cook it properly... Finally after multiple efforts to find something half decent to eat..I ended up having spaghetti with olive oil.. That's about the only thing that the Italian chef managed to do without missing out on taste... A very disappointing and expensive night that was made better by the restraunt host offering us free tiramisu..(which tasted good for a change) Overall... Not recommended ... There are much better places with lower prices ...and much better tasting...
