Social Specialty Coffee — Restaurant in Geziret al Zamalik, Jazirat al Zamalik

I had the pleasure of visiting Social Specialty Coffee recently, and it was an experience to remember. I ordered their iced salted caramel latte, and it was nothing short of perfection. The blend of flavors was incredibly well-balanced, with just the right touch of sweetness from the caramel and a hint of saltiness that added a unique twist to the drink. The coffee itself was smooth and refreshing, making it one of the best lattes I’ve had in a long time.

What made my visit even more special was the barista. She was not only talented but also exceptionally friendly and welcoming. Her warm attitude and genuine smile created such a positive atmosphere that I felt right at home. Social Specialty Coffee is self-described as a third-wave specialty coffee roaster and café, with a number of stores around Cairo.

In addition to a full assortment of espresso drinks (including flat white and cortado) and pastries, coffee beans and accessories are also sold here, including Aeropress coffee makers.

So far, I have only tried their espresso, which is a respectable Italian-style espresso. It isn't harsh, but to my taste it is too dark roasted and lacks the acidity and bouquet of fruity aromatics I prefer and associate especially with third wave coffee. But this is a darker roast, so consider milk and sugar.

I have come several times and have never really been unhappy with my espresso, but in my judgment, there are better options for specialty coffee...

☕️ Drank a pumpkin spice latte there and it was very bad. Could almost only taste cinnamon and no coffee or pumpkin.

👨🏻 The service is fine. It's help yourself style. But the place is clean and the staff aren't intrusive.

🪑🍃 The seating is not great. It's basically a stairs-style arrangement (see photos others have uploaded) and the tables are very small. So it's not the best for groups. They have wifi but it wasn't working well. The place is quiet even though its in a relatively centred location, but because of the seating and the fact that there's no bathroom it's not a place I'd recommend if you want to chill for a few hours. (Not just take a quick coffee)

Might go there again to give their regular latte / salted...
