I would like to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the service and treatment my companion and I received during our visit to your hotel. As a well-known French hotel chain, we expected the highest standards of hospitality, but unfortunately, our experience was far from what we anticipated. Upon arrival at the hotel, we were greeted by a receptionist who displayed extremely rude and unprofessional behavior. Before even acknowledging our “good evening,” he looked us up and down and immediately told my companion that he could not enter to 1886 because he wasn’t wearing a blazer. I understand and respect a dress code, but the way he spoke to us was disrespectful and condescending. When I inquired if there was a formal dress code, he told me, "You’re good, but he can’t get in like this!" His tone and attitude made us feel unwelcome and disrespected, which is completely unacceptable in a hotel of your reputation. We then decided to have dinner at La Corniche, since we had already paid an entrance participation fee. However, on our way there, we passed by 1886 and wanted to take a quick look. To our surprise, the same receptionist stopped us again and, with an arrogant tone, said, “Wait here, I need to check if there’s no one at the restaurant before you can enter.” He made us feel as if we were begging to be allowed inside, which was utterly humiliating and insulting. I do understand the need for dress codes and restaurant policies, but the manner in which we were treated was far below the standard expected of a luxury hotel. The staff’s behavior was not only unprofessional but also deeply disrespectful, which greatly impacted our perception of Sofitel’s brand and reputation. I believe that no guest should be made to feel this way, and I hope that this feedback will be taken seriously to ensure that no other guests experience similar treatment in the future. I would appreciate it if you could investigate this matter and take appropriate action to address the behavior of the staff involved. Thank you for taking the time to consider...
Read more1886 is literally the worst elevated restaurant I’ve ever been to in my entire life. The only good thing is the service since it’s in Sofitel which is a five star hotel. We ordered the salmon rolls, lobster soup, grilled fillet with sea bass and vegetables and the signature dessert. None of the above was edible. The salmon in the salmon roll tasted like ham and my partner ate and got a severe diarrhea later. Oh by the way, it costs 328 egp which is 30 usd. The lobster soup has nothing related to seafood. The fillet was over fried and the vegetable sides are soaked in poor quality olive oil. The dessert was the worst dessert I’ve ever had. The entire dinner was 73 usd but I didn’t see anything valuable than $7. THIS IS THE...

Had dinner there last week. I can see they try hard to get it right but also believe this restaurant if sailing under the flag of a french dining room you need to have a french chef de cuisine or a hands on executive chef who can fine tune the taste and presentation and give solid direction to the kitchen team. The service is very good but also I can see the service team are also attending to the restaurant next door which has a partition of a half open door.the evening I was there including myself there were 5 guests. 1886 has the makings to be at the top with good patronage if they consider what I...
