I've eaten at Lemongrass a couple of times & although the service is usually slow, 30-40 minutes, the food has always been fine. However, today's experience means I won't be going back. Arrived at 8.20, ordered at 8.30 & finally received my meal at 9.55. I only ordered steamed rice & chicken coconut soup! After 50 mins I mentioned the looooong wait & was told "oh we are so busy tonight & short-staffed" please bare in mind we are talking about a cafe with only 4 tables & only 8 customers spread out over the 4 tables 😳. When the food eventually arrived with an apology, my rice was lukewarm & my soup was so sweet I could barely eat it; the few scraps of chicken hardly merited calling it a chicken soup. My 2 companions ordered extra chicken in their meals which they were charged 80le each for, but for what they got that seemed a bit steep! The waiter then bought us 3 spring rolls by way of an apology & whilst burnt on the outside, they were still frozen inside. & I do mean frozen - there were ice crystals inside them. This implies that they are bought frozen & not homemade. I know everyone is struggling so I wasn't going to leave a review but the total lack of concern shown re the frozen freebie was quite insulting given the almost 2 hr wait. The owner did not even take the 2 drinks we had off the bill. After spending 760 for very little I feel totally ripped off. I understand the restaurant business & realise that it's Eid so dahab is busy but if a cafe can't cater for 8 people then clearly they are not cut out for the...

So I went with my partner, first of all there was only one waiter/cashier and he wasn’t so attentive at all. We had to pull the heavy tables away from the chairs so we can sit. Then after checking the menu my partner asked uom ahout the ingredients of the Panang chicken to check for allergies he said very arrogantly he cannot say it. So we ordered the Papaya salad just to tell us it is mango not papaya so we said fine and order the coconut soup which turned out to be made of milk and not coconut milk. We told him that he said in a very rude way that is what we do.. report me to the police if you don’t like it!! I said ok then please we don’t want this item, he answered back yelling what do you want me to do now! There is nothing i can do!!!! So me and my partner left the restaurant politely we did not eat anything and refused to pay for the food. NEVER AGAIN .....
Read moreThis place was recommended to us. Some of the food was good. We were the only ones in the restaurant on a Saturday night at 9 pm (prime time dinner time in Egypt)..
The owner (I believe) was our host. We sat down and ordered non-alcoholic drinks and our meals. The water and juices never arrived. When the meals arrived, not in tandem, I asked for the drinks, which still weren’t served - water, iced tea and orange juice. I asked again, but still no drinks.
The mains were delicious except for the Pad Thai (terribly sweet) and the mango salad (ridiculously spicy). No one asked us how our food was. Also, the dinner service was terribly slow. As I said, we were the only ones there and there were at least, three people in the kitchen.
Despite the fact that their curries were good, I won’t return. I did not like the atmosphere...
