Confusing experience. Almost absurd. Felt like I were in a bad candid camera show and the episode was handling tolerance of lousy customer service.
4 years ago, and I still remember it like yesterday. Lovely.
14€ (payment beforehand)
Thai Prawn Curry
was served to my table without rice. Just the tiny plate of sauce that didn’t look or smell or taste like Thai curry. I waited the rice about ten minutes and thought that they somehow forgot to bring it.
I went to the desk and asked kindly about the forgotten rise, and they were just making faces and said that rise is not included and that I must pay 2€ for it. I asked if they were kidding and despite of the bluntness in the tone and content of their answer I still tried to be polite and tried to ask about how they see Thai curry food and how it should be served and so on. They (local) just repeated themselves and kept grinning. I got frustrated and asked the chef and they pointed out the kitchen which I went to and saw 3 to 4 guys making food actively and none of them were Asian. It looked more like I was in a Senegalese kitchen.
So, I didn’t get any answers. Nobody said anything and the atmosphere of that room were like in a bad horror movie where I’m the last of the characters who comes to the room and didn’t see the guy with the flamethrower pointing at the kitchen workers making everyone shut up and just keep on working harder and faster for him. At the same time it seemed to be the candid camera show I mentioned but no one came to me afterwards to say it.
So, I did get just surreal sensible answers, and I sure as hell did not order “the rice”. At this point my friend had finished with his soup. He thought it was also a bit weird but ok. I ate the shrimps and most of the veggies avoiding the gum like murky sauce and went out to find a decent food for my precious tummy thinking that for the fist time in my life I didn’t ate up all or even most of the food in a restaurant and this only because of the taste and texture and just walked out saying nothing because of the most lousy and supine customer service, wondering if I ever going to taste something as weird and tasteless anywhere. Not to mention the whole experience. Lol.
PS — I love thai curry, I know it, I feel it. Too bad that Asian...
Read morewanted to make an honest review so that this restaurant can do better. I had a menu of Chinese Pork which is served with rice and little salad (recommended by the waiter) then a spring rolls, honey chicken, tom yum soup with chicken. I didn’t like it all. The taste was confusing. It’s like all taste the same but they were all different. They give a big portion which could be for 2 persons, but they didn’t tell us. The spring rolls were huge, the Chinese pork was served with basmati rice, I think it should have been with Thai rice. The waiter proposed us a rice for the honey chicken, but the quantity of the rice was too much, so we returned it. I don’t understand why when it could be seen that our table is already quite full.
I really think that they should update the skill of the chef and their menu. They have too many items in their menu, it’s just too much! The waiter should learn the situation either when giving recommendations or leaving the guest alone, I know she tried to be nice and helpful but it was too much.
I hope this restaurant can do better...
Read moreWorst Asian food experience in Tallinn and the worst food experience overall for a while. Besides the fact that the food was just pretty much without any taste, it had some weird off flavor (maybe some detergent?). It may have been the utensils as well, since I could not figure where exactly that bad flavor was coming from.
Also the service was pretty bad. Looked like the waiter had very little experience with opening wines as she managed to break the wine cap into the bottle, so I was lucky to get my wine with some extra cork bits.
Any Asian fast-food chain in Tallinn I've been to has been better than this place. Probably never gonna go back there and do not recommend. No wonder we were the only clients when...
