Having visited the DM Bar in Riga, which truly sets the standard, this venue was a disappointment by comparison. The atmosphere was uninspired for friday night â drunk patrons passed out at tables, no dancing, no lights, and a lacklustre rotation of Depeche Mode tracks. The bartenders were the low point of the experience, particularly the one guy who insisted I place my order directly at the till rather than at an open space at the bar, which came across as unnecessarily rigid and controlling.
The shots were gimmicky. The "strong" one with Stroh rum was more cream and Tabasco than substance (see pic). To make matters worse, the bartenders felt the need to loudly question my husbandâs choice to order itâonly to learn it was for me. The casual sexism in that exchange left a bitter taste, far worse than the shot itself.
This place has the potential to be great, but the lack of professionalism and energy from the staff detracts from what could otherwise be a unique experience. Itâs a missed opportunity for a bar with such a...
Read moreUnbeliably this time, and I have visited this bar every now and then without any problems, the bartender I have not seen before said Hello to me and then I said a "beer please" (naming the beer) . With any other I bartenders in the same place all has been neutral and OK.
For this event I have few friends that were witnessing the situation. I asked if this what I have written is true to...

All Depeche Mode music played and tied into the TVs which show live shows or the relevant music videos.
I had the Personal Jesus and Suffer Well cocktails plus another with absinthe which I obviously forgotten the name of, as it was my 4th cocktail in the bar.
Sometimes these types of rock bars can have staff that are a bit unwelcoming, but not here!. The bartender was good fun, great sense of humour and very and welcoming.
We didn't use the pinball machines but the area looked like great craic(Irish for fun).
Go and experience it for the novelty and stay for the drink...
