OldHouse Hostel — Hotel in Tallinn

The location of this hostel is great...but that's the only recommendable thing about this hostel. I booked a single room and was directed to the annexe/guesthouse, a few houses down the road (the main building apparantly doesn't have single rooms). This really is an old house hostel, nothing romantic about it, just an old mess. There wasn't a single door or floorboard that didn't creak (what's the huge hole in the floor in front of the kitchen doing there?). There's one smelly toilet and one bathroom with a toilet and two showers (what's the use of that?!), serving six rooms and about fifteen guests (so be prepared to wait in the morning). There's no daily cleaning. Toiletpaper was lacking in the bathroom for over a day. The beds are box spring beds, but without the mattress, only the metal frame is there, with a thin cover to prevent the iron springs from penetrating your back completely. The walls are paper thin, so I could literary hear my neighbour sigh and hear every other sound she made too. There's no supervision whatsoever, so other guests were making noise, shouting and dancing in the middle of the night. After three nights with little or no sleep I made a complaint. The girl at the desk was very friendly and understanding: she offered free breakfast (5 euros), another room (the one without a window and next to the banging frontdoor) and extra supervision during the night (which didn't happen). So in the end staff did nothing at all. WiFi was unreliable and out for one whole day. I really don't get the high ratings for this high priced dump. Konum olarak ise evet zaten kent kucucuk ve 10 dakikada ana meydana karanlik sokaklardan gecerek ulasabiliyorsunuz.Anlatimimda tek kelime abarti yoktur ! en sinirlendigim ise booking com icinde rezervasyon alinirken HOSTEL ve hostelle AYNI iSiMDE olan ama 5 bina ileride olan OLD GUEST niye FARKLI FARKLI konaklama birimi oldugu belirtilmeden rezervasyon ve tabiki bu rezervasyonunda ucretinin GERi ODEMESi OLMADAN ucretin pesin alinmasi !!! Elbette odedigim fiyat zerre onemli degil AMA insanlarin 1 haftalik 1 misafirliklerinin booking guvencesinde bu sekilde istismar edilmesi !!! Friend and I stayed here on our trip to Tallinn. It was honestly a pretty terrible experience. You cannot wear shoes inside, which would be fine if the place was clean, but it was not. We were both picking hair from previous guests off of our blankets. My friend slept without hers because it was so filthy. The WiFi doesn’t work at all in the room. The bathroom situation is unfortunate. The shower and toilet are in the same room, which means that water is constantly all over the floor from people showering. Since you cannot wear shoes, half the time you go to use the restroom, your feet get wet. We also got locked out for a bit one night because the staff person left the desk and locked the hostel. Guests are not provided with keys to the front door. We were not given any information on when the staff person would return, but fortunately we weren’t locked out that long.
