At F-Hoone I opted to go for the Pil-Pil prawns, which is a favorite of mine, and luckily the food did not disappoint at all. The prawns were perfectly flavored and came with a side of olive oil toast. The meal looked amazing and all the different ingredients went perfectly together. The price of the food was under 10 euros, and considering that the prawns are on the expensive side then this was normal, especially considering that all the other foods were also adequately priced. Although this meal was quite small, then that was expected as I ordered a starter. On the other hand, the atmosphere of the restaurant and the service was nothing to compliment. To start off, the atmosphere of the restaurant alone was not bad at all, the ceilings are high, the restaurant is well furnished and dimly lit. The restaurant was huge and spanned over three or four rooms, but they still managed to cram every portion of the restaurant with tables, so there was no room to move. Additionally with this many people there was constantly loud chatter everywhere around you, so you did not have a possibility to relax or talk with your friends. Additionally, the service was also very poor as a consequence of the high number of people. We had a reservation and were constantly ignored by staff when coming in. Once we were finally seated and got our menus, we waited an hour to order our food and were at the brink of leaving when they finally came to take our order. Although I understand that they were swamped with work and came to us at the earliest opportunity, I still see room for improvement in better managing the number of workers and the number of tables in...

Food was good.
But.
There was a notable discrepancy in the timing of food delivery to our table. While I received my meal promptly, approximately 15-20 minutes before others in our party, one member of our group had to endure a significant delay of 40 minutes before receiving their order. Such inconsistency in service timing undoubtedly detracted from the enjoyment of our dining experience.
Moreover, we were disappointed by the lack of empathy and responsiveness exhibited by our waiter in addressing these concerns. My friend got a little discount for this (2-3€) only after asking for it.
Furthermore, the handling of our bill added further frustration to our experience. We were left waiting for approximately 20 minutes before our check was presented, and our request to pay separately was met with visible displeasure from our server. This reaction was unwarranted and left a negative impression on our overall experience.
Additionally, we were disheartened by the demeanor and attitude displayed by our waiter throughout the duration of our meal. There was a noticeable absence of basic courtesies such as "thank yous," and on several occasions, items such as our checks were delivered abruptly without any acknowledgment or interaction. This left us with a sense of discomfort and unease, as if we had unknowingly caused offense or inconvenience, despite our efforts to engage...
Read morewhen planning my trip to tallinn, f-hoone came up a lot as a popular restaurant. they are in a very modern/hip part of tallinn that seems to be repurposing an industrial area into trendy restaurants and community spaces.
they have a regional dish (meat dumpling pelmeni), but otherwise their menu seems to be sort of eclectic (there's a lot of dishes from scattered cuisines - you could see this as a pro or a con).
we came around ~5pm on a monday and there were some indoor and outdoor tables available. a lot of them are reserved, and by 7pm it was full, so i recommend eating at an off time or making a reservation.
there is free tap water and bread that is self-serve. prices are quite reasonable especially for the area and ambiance.
// 25pc meat dumplings with mushroom sauce (8.40) // this dish is probably the best portion to price ratio, very filling. the dish tasted good and satisfying, mainly because of the mushroom cream sauce. the dumplings do have a decent amount of meat inside which is a good, but you are mainly tasting the sauce vs. flavor of the dumplings.
// salmon with leeks, lemon risotto, herbs (13.90) // portion of salmon is quite small. flavors with the lemon risotto and sauce were good, light, and refreshing because of the herbs. salmon itself was a bit bland but can be eaten with the sauce.
overall, a good restaurant in tallinn with a variety of cuisines and dishes for a reasonable price. seems to be popular with locals, especially coworkers,...
