Black Door — Restaurant in Helsinki sub-region

One of the best pubs in Helsinki if you're looking for relaxing location relatively close to center. I rarely visit this area because price segment is a tad steep for me.

When Blackdoor was located at Iso Robertinkatu I visited there much more often than this new location. This new location is really close to everything related to center of Helsinki but for some reason I haven't been this area so often.

Atmosphere is really relaxing which is great if you're coming here to have after work liquid beverages. This establishment has really nice vintage vibe paired with amusing decorative elements which make it a tad unique.

Service is friendly and quick so it's much appreciated. This is rather expensive place for me personally so I might not visit this place more often considering it's located really busy section of Kaisaniemi.

This place is somewhat conjoined with movie theater lobby which might be a win-lose situation especially if musical entertainment producer is having their gig here. They have to close their conjoined doorway when musicians play their instruments.

I can't believe they would not serve someone around 9 pm on Vappu because they were "too drunk to be served"... we're a group of 5, the rest of the group and the other customers were already enjoying the annual Vappu routine, AND were already being served in front of him. ALL were also as "drunk" as a person should be at that time of a Vappu day. But only when our friend comes and orders, with his Slavic English accent, he is "too drunk to be served"... and then stared at from afar, then harassed by the bartender at the table.

I was trying to reasonably explain to my friend that in this industry it's their right to refuse to serve anyone because it's their job, and a difficult job to observe the strict law at the same time satisfy all customers. But the way the bartender got agitated and followed us to harass him out of everyone else, made us all realize our friend is being ethnically profiled. The bartender...

This was probably the best pub I have ever been to in Finland. When I told them what kinds of beer I like (darker bitters, porters, stouts, milds - I particularly have no time for IPAs that are so popular in Helsinki now) they made an appropriate recommendation and gave me a free sample to taste. Sadly, the last time I was in the area it was closed and some pretty serious building work was taking place. Hopefully this is just a refurb and it will open again soon because it's a great pub for anyone who loves unpretentious english-style boozers that care...
