Café Bar No 9 — Restaurant in Helsinki sub-region

Unfortunately my Mother and I were visintg Helsinki for the weekend, and chose this place as our one special evening meal of the trip. It was a total let down :(. There was a bit of wait which was explained, and we got our drinks and got a table fairly soon after, so all was looking promising.

We waited about a hour, noticing other tables bigger tables were getting served before us and we thought we had better say something in case they had forgotten us. We were offered a free drink and told that we were still in quite a long queue for food, despite other tables ordering after us eating and leaving. Anyway, happy with our drink we sat another half an hour.

By this time it was getting too late, it was about 8:30-40 and we thought if they don't feed us, we'll need to find something else really soon. So I went to the bar, the waiter and waitress drinking a coke and not even noticing I was there. When they did eventually notice I told the waitress that we think we are going to go now and that we'd like a refund, as we are hungry. They both ran to the kitchen and didn't really look at me or explain what had happend, and just gave me a 20 euro note. So we didn't finish our drinks and left, because, well we wanted something to eat!

Luckily we found an amazing burger and pasta...

I must say, it was a delightful experience having lunch at this place. I opted for their Monte Rosso burger, and it was a real treat. The flavors were on point, and I found it to be exceptionally tasty. In addition to the delicious burger, it’s worth noting that the meal came with a side of tasty fries and dip. This combination of burger, fries, and dip was a delightful addition to the dining experience.

Alongside the delicious burger, the cafe also offered a decent selection of beers, including a particularly good pale ale that paired well with my meal.

The bartender, a friendly individual, served my drink and took my order with a welcoming attitude. However, while the service was pleasant, the staff didn't go the extra mile in terms of exceptional service experiences.

All in all, the standout feature here was the food, with the burger being a memorable highlight. I might consider returning in the future for the food and the great beer selection, even though the service didn't exceed...

Went to Bar 9 for dinner on a Friday night when it was really crowded, but was welcomed warmly and assured that a table would soon open. One did! We ordered the sesame salad with tofu and the satay wok with chicken. Both meals were beautifully presented, and my salad was super fresh and tasty and just really delicious. Did a little seated good-food-happy dance along to The Smiths playing while we ate. The satay wok looked amazing (and reportedly tasted amazing, too), but I didn't try it since it was with chicken. Instead, I went back a couple days later and tried the satay wok with tofu - and it was delicious! I'm now surfing recipes to see if I could possibly re-create these meals at home. Very chill place, relaxed, cool vibe, great location. Very sweet servers. Wish I could have tried more on the menu.
