I've been to this place before and it was lovely, that unfortunately has changed dramatically based on my previous and last interaction.
We booked a table for 8 and were super excited to play some boardgames and enjoy some food in celebration of a dear friend. Unfortunately the night turned sour due to the unprofessional and utterly lacking customer experience.
It all started when a fried unintentionally and accidentally bumped into a table and spilled some drinks. The friend was very apologetic and open in their apology. It is understandable if they wanted us to pay for the damaged drinks, but to rudely tell the person to their face that "you have to pay for this" in a shrill tone is not proper.
Also, we have ordered some food and a friend has ordered fries with their pizza. They mentioned that they have ordered fries to their significant other while ordering, and they have reminded the waiter later on that they have ordered fries with their food. Two workers have come to check, and one of them (same as the one that was rude to our other friend before) came and asked to see their bank statement and prove that they ordered. The friend complied. The worker then went and checked their receipt and came back in a very defensive way to, again, rudely claim that she is only human and our friend didn't order the fries, implying that she is lying to get free fries. I'm no expert here, but this sort of interaction could have easily been chucked under "misunderstanding" and could have been handled much more gracefully by the worker.
Please note 6 people have ordered food, we have all paid for drinks, and we have paid for the gaming fee (without actually playing anything because the mood was demolished by this establishment). Fries that wouldn't cost the cafe more than 1€ in fees shouldn't be made into such a huge spectacle in front of everyone present.
You can have a nice establishment. Work on your service.
Oh, and the pizza was so oily that the U.S should bring it...
Read moreI don't even know where i should start so, some months ago i book a table for 2 we order some fried fries (on the menu is not written any ingredient or allergens that is not normal) in the fried fries you expect to have anything else except the fries and salt, but a weird mix of powder that i repeat was not written anywhere was added to the fries i'm allergic to chili so we ask what this powder was but we didn't find out if had chili or not. Anyways can happen, today i book a table for 5, i ask to the waitress (i don't know the name but she as Asian features, dark hair and short) i ask really clearly to them the vegetarian nachos have chili inside? because i'm ALLERGIC, they say that they will remove the chili part and i ask again ARE YOU SURE YOU CAN MAKE IT WHIT ANY CHILI? they answer yes. I wait 1 hour for some nachos, I ask after this time to the waitress how much i need to wait for the nachos? She answers me in a really arrogant way, "i told you that we had a line, did i?" After this i try one nachos and fortunately i reacted fast enough to don't have any major allergic reaction, i go to the waitress telling her that i was sure that this contain chili, at this point the waitress with the hair blu/green take to me this box of this topping for the nachos i saw the name and i was shocked "TEXMEX" ingredients obviously CHILI at this point i suggest for a refund because was late for have other food and the printer for the receipt is broken i can't have the proof that they refund me on the card, the waitress even didn't know how to open it for see if the paper was inside i helped her to do it'. After all this questionable service and an attempt to my health one of the waitress call the boss I suppose and they give me a refund for the nachos in cash. The menu without any allergenic is absolutely crazy i don't think is legal! We will never come again that's absolutely sure. Anyways the nachos plate was pretty bad 1 hours for this and i don't want even to speak...
Read moreWe ran across this place while walking around Helsinki and decided to go in and grab a couple pints of cider before ordering.
One person came out recommending the pizza, one lady helped us find the game exploding kittens and the really skinny guy behind the counter gave us menus.
A quarter of the way through the ciders as we were setting up the game and waiting to order the skinny gent pops up and rather rudely tells my wife who is also Finnish, in Finnish and less perfect English that there are additional fees if we are gaming per person.
The fees we wouldn't have had a problem with but we had already at the time we were going to order the pizza interacted several times with employees and no one said I thing.
We put the game, finished our ciders and quietly left. One of the things I enjoy in the EU is all the fees being very open and upfront, and probably would have stayed and probably would have had fun if things had been different.
The atmosphere was pleasant and relaxing, the pizza smelled okay, though I think the price for gaming might be somewhat included in the price of the food. The service failed on the night we visited and I felt as if assumptions had been made unfairly based on age.
To clarify I game and sell antique and vintage games going back to beta MTG and the first sets of D&D, high priced food is necessary for gaming establishments where table turnover is slow, fees are normal and usually posted prominently and additionally collected up front.
I felt that this could of been pleasant, enjoyable but ended up being a bit of a...
