This place came highly recommended by someone I knew - and it did not disappoint.
The host was efficient and friendly and I was given a lovely table. The place is cosy and can be quite loud, so sitting by a window was a treat.
I tried their sampler menu item which included 8 dumplings, a slaw salad, fried chicken, a bao, some rice, and condiments - a fair amount of food, though it cost a pretty penny, 30€. I was steered towards the panfried pork dumplings, which were very good indeed - they got the skin just right so it yields easily to the bite, but was sturdy enough to keep the filling in place. The chili oil is a great accompaniment. The slaw salad was lovely and refreshing. The pork bao also got the pillowy density of the skin just right, though the char siew in it was not as strongly flavored as it could have been. The fried chicken was crispy, crackling and very tasty - it had a mayonnaise-based sauce as well as the classic Japanese tonkatsu sauce alongside it. I should mention that the whole order was very liberally dressed with bean sprouts and green onions - which I thankfully like, though non-fans of these should take note.
My waiter Joe was appropriately loquacious and seemed to really enjoy his job, which added to the overall experience. I did not have a chance to sample their desserts because I had already over-ordered, but the Nutella dumplings did sound good.
Do make a reservation as it's a rightly popular eatery; lots of couples on dates, and some groups of friends - did not see any...

We went there without reservation but were lucky to get a table immediately as the place was packed! I’d recommend reserving if you wanna be sure to get a table.
The selections of dumplings were good, not too many options and not too little. They offer both standard/classic dumplings menu like pork and chives and more fusion/mondern menu like dumplings with indomie seasoning, which we ordered and was amazing!
They’re also vegetarian friendly. You can choose the filling between chicken, pork or vegetarian.
We ordered the classic pork & chive, mi goreng wonton, prawn & chive, and hills fried chicken. All of the dishes were absolutely delicious!! The fried chicken was crispy but the meat was tender and very flavorful. The dumplings were rich in flavor and good level of spicy as well for the mi goreng wonton.
The only thing i’d say that’s not so positive is the price for the prawn & chive. While the other dumplings come in 8 pcs per portion, the prawn & chive was only 4 pcs per portion even though the price were the same. I get that prawn is usually more expensive than chicken or pork, but 4pcs only with the same price is quite a significant difference.
Service was good! Everyone was friendly and pretty attentive despite it was a full house. The food also came quickly.

Read moreOne of the worst customer service I have ever experienced, not even worth my 1 star.
I've heard about Hills Dumplings years ago and I was really excited to visit the restaurant. When we arrived, it was 6.35 pm on Saturday evening, the restaurant was busy. A waitress came and told us, ''Sorry, we can't take you, maybe another time'' and just turned the back to us and walked away. Both of my friends and I completely shocked in the customer services we received when we just arrived. As a head waitress, shift manager, I used to work in a restaurant that had 300 customers daily and 1000 customers approximately during holidays and promotion days. My team and I never treated our customers the same way as we received from Hills Dumplings. We always ask customers, if they are in a hurry to have a meal or not? Can they wait to get a free table? Otherwise, we would politely apologize because we can't serve them that day.
I understood that our arriving time is the dinner time, rushing hour for the restaurant. Yet the customer services we received that day is completely unprofessional and impolite. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
I hope Hills Dumplings can improve its customer services because Food and Beverage industry relies on customers. And I hope Hills Dumplings can survive the...
