The short version: Great seafood and service, exceptional risotto, but some misses alcohol servings and dishes.
The long version: We had a five-course dinner with the wine package.
We got first a chef's greeting, which was an oyster. It tasted alright, but was, in my opinion, a tad too plain with the sauce and lemon it was served with. It tasted mostly like sea water and was not liked by half of the attendees.
The first dish was pike confit. The flavour and wine pairing were really good, not exceptional but really good. I could consider having it another time again.
The second dish was a tryffel risotto, which was lightly hyped by the staff when we came to the restaurant. This was exceptional; perfect texture and flavour, with a matching wine pair. This was the dish that made me smile as it was so exceptionally good. I would love to eat this again.
The third option was smoked vendace. The strong and acidic flavors of the dish overpowered the wine. The dish was okay; it tasted good but wouldn't be bought again. The wine pairing was the weak link with this dish, as there was nothing to taste. The wine had a somewhat similar flavor profile to the dish, but just in a much weaker manner.
The main course was pan-fried whitefish. This one was another hit, really good and will be remembered as the dish that was the runner-up to the risotto. The dish's fish-part was simple yet good, with the salsify being a nice addition with pickled radish. The white wine was refreshing with the course and was a good pairing.
Then we had the letdown, the course dinner finish that shouldn't let you down, the desert. We received an off-menu item, a rather large pear-chocolate frosty piece of cake. The cakes were rather large for a desert and were still frozen. The flavour was somewhat similar to that of Ville Vallaton ice cream (or drink). We couldn't really enjoy this as it was frozen and the flavours didn't come through due to the temperature of the dish. We also received a small alcoholic desert drink. I cannot recall what it was, but it was alright. One desert alternative was buckthorn sorbé. Sure, it was good for a buckthorn sorbé, but it felt more like something that should have been left as a superfood instead of making a desert of it.
After the five-course dinner, we were discussing if we should get something else or go have a final drink in a bar. The waitress heard this and hyped me up, saying that they had a really good whisky. This got my attention and my hopes up for something exotic or really elegant, but I was let down when the waitress brought a bottle of Bowmore 12. Don't get me wrong, it's a really good whisky, but by my standards, it's almost a "get wasted" whisky. I told the waitress I had two bottles of the whisky at home, paid for the dinner and left.
The service was really good the whole evening. I would recommend it as the menu had recently changed and they hadn't had that much time to perfect every dish and wine pairing.
I've once been here before, having their salmon soup for lunch. That was alright, nothing exceptional, but just alright, nothing that makes you crave it...

If You are lucky and the Blond Lady, working at Fisken på Disken over 2 years, meets with You, only then will an Foreign Customer get a great consistent service.
I ate at this restaurant on 31.5.19 I sat at the bar area on a Bar stool for My Starter, My Main course & Beverage. The following day 1st June 2019, I went back to eat at the same restaurant as its in My building, I live above the restaurants in Kamppi. On the 1.6.19 I rang the restaurant prior, to book a table.
When I arrived at the restaurant the MAN with the RED HAT said “all the tables are reserved”. That means the 2nd DAY CONSECUTIVELY EATING AT Fisken på Disken I WAS ALLOCATED A BAR STOOL WITHOUT NO SUPPORT FOR MY BACK DURING THE MEAL.
The most annoying aspect of Fisken på Disken restaurant’s treatment, towards International Customers was the restaurant was 80% empty on 1.6.19 between 12.30pm and 3pm. The tables were empty. The Finnish speaking Couple arrived afterwards and was allocated A Proper Table & Seat with Support for the Back.
The Professional Blond Lady, speaks Perfect English indicating she has international Customer Experience & Travelled, I noted, if a foreigner asked for a table, she was professional and allocated a proper table seat, she treated all Customers with Equally Opportunity, the Blond Lady did not say all the Seats with Support for the Back are RESERVED.
I was eating my food, had a beverage, but NO SPARKLING WATER, the Man in the Red Hat was so Pompous to attend to my table, he just walked pass my table and I had no sparkling water to drink & I was eating. So I ONLY STARRED in the direction of the Professional Blond Lady, she came to my Bar Stool area and bought me a Bottle of Sparkling water to my table, this is the difference in service, she has a keen eye for service.
The MAN IN THE RED HAT TURN’s ON / TURN’s OFF A GOOD SERVICE WHEN IT SUITES HIM. I left the restaurant and ate my Dessert at the Jord Kamppi Organic Food Restaurant, The Food is Fresh & Great and most of all Equal Opportunity Service with consistency.

Read moreIt's the third time I have the pleasure to eat at Fisken på Disken and they never cease to amaze me!
The service staff is very professional, caring, makes you feel special and they always know what to suggest you. You're always welcome with a smile.
The food is exquisite and the attention to details is something I really appreciate. All the drinks and food are not only a pleasure to eat but also to look at.
The Lohikeitto (Salmon soup) is a MUST and definitely my favourite main dish. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed at all. All the ingredients are perfectly balanced and the salmon is so tender it melts in your mouth. Very flavourful.
Also the handmade ice cream is something you don't want to miss. We had the fortune to find white chocolate flavour on the menù. So tasty. I loved the contrast between the creamy ice cream and the chopped dry fruit.
Cocktails: The pink Gin Tonic is very fresh, bubbly, perfect for summer. Not too sweet. It's like drinking bubble tea Gin based with pomegranate seeds! Very good, very particular. The Red Yuzu with Tequila is perfect if you like sweeter cocktails with a pinch of sour. Both of them are approved and beautiful to look at. You might confuse them with magic potions (which they are :D)
The atmosphere and the staff are relaxing. They don't put pressure on customers and they're not noisy. You don't hear noises from the kitchen either. Another thing I really appreciate as someone who likes tranquillity and relax.
