Dining at Restaurant Grön was an unforgettable culinary experience that perfectly captured the spirit of spring. Every dish was thoughtful, vibrant, and beautifully balanced, but what truly elevated the evening was the juice pairing. Each drink complemented the food in surprising and delightful ways. A standout was the pea based green juice: slightly funky on the nose, but rich, velvety, and deeply satisfying.
The fish soup was phenomenal, warm, comforting, and layered with flavor, dotted with tender potatoes. Another highlight was the king crab chawanmushi, a playful and luxurious blend of textures that made each bite a mini celebration.
A word of caution: the bread is dangerously good. Served with whipped butter, it was soft, warm, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious… and also powerful enough to induce a full-blown food coma. We had to call in backup in the form of their freshly ground coffee, which by the way, was fantastic.
Desserts were equally impressive. The strawberries with cream and sorrel struck a perfect balance between sweet and tart, while the fresh flowers from the Grön garden were a beautiful and fragrant touch.
Service was impeccable, warm, professional, and full of thoughtful details, including a hidden drawer that charmingly revealed our utensils.
If you’re in Helsinki and want a meal that feels like a love letter to the season, Grön is a must.

Read moreTwo people at a 5:00pm!!! sitting for dinner, late May 2024. Oooh that's early for dinner. We were recommended the restaurant by the three Finnish staff at Frantzen where we had dined the week previous. A very good recommendation we thought. Its a "compact" space eg the wine fridge is in the toilet and I feared for our water jug each time the next door table was served. But t was a friendly space. The food was fabulous and in many ways the menu is similar in structure to Frantzen. Except at a third of the price !!! We really enjoyed the food and service. We were confused by the wine as we wanted a glass of wine and not the full pairing. In the end we came to the conclusion that there is no menu of wine by the glass. But they will allow you to buy one or more wines by he glass from the pairing. Which is just fine......If that had been explained in the first instance we would have been less confused. Minor glitch. Favourite dish Chawanmushi...fantastic. Cost for food, water and two glasses of Barolo ($50 each) and tip. AUD$657. Felt like good value to us and we would certainly...
Read moreJust visited this restaurant for the first time, and I have no regrets! I think the quality was such, that the second michelin star may hopefully follow some time in the near future.
There were many things to like here, so I'll focus on the two things that stood out the most for me:
Everything was very well thought out. The size on both the dishes and the wine glasses was just right. Even in very good restaurants, it seems to be typical that theres not enough food, or theres too much, or maybe you get way too drunk just consuming the recommended wine package. No such thing here! Waiting times between the dishes and the beverages were also close to perfection: didn't feel too rushed, nor did you have to ever wait for a long time.
Overall quality was very, very high, and balanced. While some dishes certainly stood above others in my subjective experience, as often happens, everything was at least a...
