A while ago, some Finns were visiting the Great American Beer Festival in Denver, and ended up at Tommyknocker, a small brewery in an 1800s Western-style building in the small town of Idaho Springs, Colorado. Apparently a good time was had and happy memories were made. The Finns returned to Finland and some investors spun up a situation where this Helsinki bar would import Tommyknocker beer and serve as an unofficial official Tommyknocker extension in Helsinki, not doing brewing but receiving a good supply of barrels from the mothership.
As such, this is a cute spot where you can get Tommyknocker and a variety of other US craft beer - on tap are your bigger-scale US stuff like Sierra Nevada, in addition to various curious other US beers. I'm a West Coaster so I didn't see too much I was familiar with, but everything looked good, and Tommyknocker itself is always a good time, though a little unusual to enjoy it detached from the rowdy cowboy town vibe of Idaho...

They're the guys and (big) girls sitting outside Tommyknocker drinking all day from the moment the place opens; when it closes, they're the people passed out on the ground in the neighbouring streets.

Read moreLet’s get one thing straight. This is a dive. Chewing-gum-staff and lager clients. Not sure if there is a Colorado affiliation at all, then again (back in the days) Tommyknocker never ruffled my feathers in the first place.
They do have an ample Sierra Nevada, Great Divide and Oskar Blues fridge. Add some local Fat Lizard and there might still be a reason...
