The restaurant has a great atmosphere and the staff is really friendly and professional. Their list of drinks is great considering it has alcohol-free ciders and several types of interesting products for beer lovers. My mushroom soup was delicious, just like the fish on my main dish. The dessert was heavenly, albeit a bit small of a portion. More on that later. Fortunately my brother (huge fan of the Viking peoples) had a really great time in Harald so overall it was an OK experience. However, I found some signs of trouble in the decor, the food and the state of restrooms. One example is the wobbly toilet seat in the ladies' stall, and the old and weathered (paint has come off, revealing the white base) cheap plastic Viking helmet at our table. The uniform of the waiter also seemed old, washed a thousand times and its color faded. Another sign of trouble is the shrunk size of the portion of our food. Few years ago when I went to Harald, I could barely finish my plate we had so much on it: now the size could be compared to a gourmet fine dining restaurant where you get half of a normal portion. To be honest, I felt like I did not get my money's worth (150€ for 3 people) when the garnish was overly salted and the vegetable patty's underside was burnt. The fish was excellent though, and I made sure to mention that to the staff. Harald will always have a special place in my heart for sure: it has an absolutely unique, amazing atmosphere and great menu. I loved the themes of set menus and the creative names of courses. Don't gete wrong: my nitpicking only shows that I care about the quality of this great place. I would like to return there one day again, but perhaps later, hoping these little things will be fixed. I'm grateful to the staff, since their kindness and hospitality greatly contributed to the immersion of...
Read moreWe were celebrating a very special occasion with a large group, we arrived 20min prior to reservation. We were shown where our designated area would be. As we were sat down in the room, we thought we could perhaps get some drinks in before we order, to make a toast. We went to the bar, only to be told that our waitress was on break( fair enough, as we were early !), but to be told that we can’t purchase anything to drink until they come back on shift. We received a reply from the waitress behind the bar(!!!) that she can’t look ‘ after’ us because it’s not her designated area. But she was behind the bar and we wanted order AT the bar (?!). Not even offering water for the tables.. We were all very shocked that we got turned away from making the business money?! Finally, when the designated waitress arrived, she firstly started lighting, what felt like a thousand candles, to create the atmosphere. We had even asked if we could order drinks now and she said she will take the order once she’s lit all the candles. This took 10 min !!! By now, we had already had a bad start, and taking the drinks order, finally, was slow and it seemed the waitress, either had a lack of experience, or they had a belly full of food and wanted to take a nap.
I heard so many good things about this restaurant and for the occasion it had been chosen for ( a wedding !), I felt very very disappointed. Mostly, for the couple who had chosen the restaurant…All the food had been pre-booked and all guests were to pay for their drinks separately. The restaurant could have been more prepared- whether they knew it was a wedding, there was no congratulations or effort to make it memorable. I will not be returning and definitely not...
Read moreI just went there to have dinner with my family tonight. By the way, this is our first time in Finland. The whole experience of this country had been super positive. But the waitress who served us ruined the vibe.
The negative atmosphere started when my daughter ordered still water and she rolled her eyes because my daughter didn’t see there was water already provided at the table. ( Where we live, they always ask if we want gas or not gas water) Right after that my daughter said that she was ready to oder food. The old lady waitress just walked past our table so, my other daughter mentioned again that we were ready to order but she turned around and gave them attitude and said she needed to get the paper and pen then signed the hands acting like my 16 daughters didn’t know what it meant. Yes, so that was the first strike! The 2nd strike was when the food was served and said excuse me and about to asked for an extra plate but didn’t get to that yet but she snapped at me saying she needed to serve the food first if it is possible for me to wait!!
My husband to the cashier to change the waitress because we couldn’t stand that anymore but they refused to do that. Moreover, that waitress said we overloaded her.
We went there to have a family dinner and we did NOT order Any Attitudes!
It’s not a family friendly restaurant and definitely not good for tourists. Regarding the food, there are other restaurants that are better in Helsinki. I wouldn’t give...
