Fabulous restaurant. Very delicious food, excellent wine, and a nice atmosphere (especially in the back room amongst the wines).
We weren't planning on having a fancy night but Beaune can be very busy and without much luck getting a booking at simpler places L'Expression was very accommodating and took our booking at 9pm. And what a lovely night it was!
The sommelier (who is part owner) was very kind and somehow managed to pick us a perfect bottle from his enormous list that turned out to be (after several more days of research) our favourite wine of Burgundy - I don't know how he did it from a few brief sentences roughly describing our tastes!
The young waiter was also very nice and helpful and the food was absolutely perfect. We wanted to get the Bresse chicken "for two" as our main and the waiter suggested that in this case we just have one starter as the chicken was more for three people despite what the menu said... Who is to blame when clients pets destroy what would otherwise have been a great experience? Could it be me because I was offended by pets sitting at the table next to me, eating at the table? Pets out of control barking at others that were well managed? Or is it in the end the restaurants responsibility for putting guests with pets close to others so the dog wars occur? I have to expect that when clients with unruly pets are ruining a dining experience for others that the restaurant will rectify the situation. Ask people with unruly pets to control them or leave. If they are frequent guests that is more important because they will drive others away and ruin your reputation. If it does not matter to you, eventually...
Read moreUnfortunately this was a disappointing experience after waiting 35 mins to order food after which arriving on time for our booking. Without further complaint the wine waiter was unable to come to our table for another 10 mins afterwards due to being overrun and at this point I changed my mind from ordering a bottle to jsut having a glass of wine. The actual wine turned up with the entrees. The overall food was average at best from a taste nothing exciting just food and a limited menu with 3 options for shared plates for...
