La Cocotte de Grand-Mère — Restaurant in Colmar-Ribeauvillé

I am a bit hesitant in my evaluation. The waiters were super friendly and helpful, but missed an important timing issue for us. One of us loved her food, for another it was hit or miss, and, as for me, I had a very solid dish and another that was so salty it was almost inedible.

Good wine selection. The waiting staff was very competent in steering us towards what we like when we described our tastes to them.

It is worth noting that the cooking style is not really "Grand Mere:" the short but interesting menu does not count many recipes that any grandmother would cook. Too bad for us, as this was one of our goals for this meal. For others it may actually be a good thing.

Finally, price: definitely not very expensive, yet, we felt after spending 6 weeks in and near France, a bit overpriced for what it is. All in all, not a bad experience by any means, but probably not one I would care to...

The restaurant itself is spotless and has this comfy vibe that adds to the whole experience. What's cool is that it's not huge, so it feels special and not too crowded. You get this exclusive, cozy feel that's hard to find elsewhere.

Big thanks to the staff for being so welcoming and the chefs for whipping up such delicious dishes. I'm definitely coming back to La Cocotte de Grand-Mère for more cozy vibes and amazing flavors. Totally recommend it for a laid-back, tasty time!

Id love to tell you how it was, but unfortunately, despite booking THREE WEEKS in advance, our booking was cancelled, without comment, the day before. We walked into the restaurant to check, thinking surely this must be some kind of technical error, to be told that our reservation had been cancelled because the restaurant was closed for a 'family dinner'. Pity he didnt get his story straight with the cook, who emerged to tell me an elaborate story about closure due to his 'one server' being sick. So which was it guys?? Family party or sick server?

Dont book here if reliability or integrity...
