Wow, the staff here were incredibly rude. First time this has ever happened in France to me and we come every year. Never experienced anything like it.
Firstly we sat down with our kids for an early supper. We chose it because of the kids menu including pizza. We sat down and asked if we might have the pizza but change the ham for pepperoni or chorizo or similar. No problem said the lovely waitress who promtly went off shift we think. After we have all ordered drinks and long started drinking them(included on the kids menu and extra for adults). Only then are we told no pizza tonight. That's a poor start and we were the sole customers at this point! So we are kinda stuck being here, having already drunk the drinks and ordered pizza before being told no.
My eldest was not having the kids menu but a adult pizza. So cancelled too. Equally that didn't come with a drink so we ordered a coke for him which he was 1/4 through.
He never got his inluded drink when he ordered the kids menu due to lack of pizza.
The service was surly and rude. My kids had steak hatche with frites. Ketchup was not offered nor any other sauces. I asked for ketchup indicating my FOUR children was grumpily presented with a teaspoon of the stuff in a dish. A. Tea. Spoon!!
I asked if they all could please have a similar teaspoon worth in a dish. Much later we got a total of three teaspoons in dishes. We gave up at this point.
My son still hasn't got his included drink. Oh well, maybe the coke will be his included drink instead. Fine.
Still, candy floss icecream will save the day. Mais non. What was billed as candyfloss was clearly coconut. Mon dieu!
Right, sod adult desserts. Bill please.
Bill arrives and we are charged 4 euro for the coke. The whole kids menu is 10euro.
My wife very calmy and in perfect French (she is part French and a French teacher) says please remove the coke. She explains the situation. The waiter kicks off super aggressive. "never in his 15 years has he heard anything like it"
My wife patiently explains that we choose the restaurant for the pizza, we were only told there wasn't any way to late to change our minds and the boy never got his included drink anyway. Again, aggression with deliberate attempts to lie about what had occurred. By this stage the locals are all looking at him, not us. He is bang out of order and my wife perfectly calm, reasonable with an actual explanation and reasons.
Eventually he takes it off whilst grumbling about how he has now lost so much money. We get minor applause from a nearby French couple who can't belive his attitude.
Oh and our bill was around 140 euro without the blasted coke.
Food was mediocre at best by French standards.
For balance this side of the square gets the evening sun in August which is nice.
Just go next door, enjoy a nice evening and...
Read moreWe very much enjoyed having dinner at Caffé Così. The restaurant has a nice terrace for the evening sun and the personnel overall was working hard for the amount of people they had to serve but still we didn't have to wait too long. I would advise to make a reservation for the terrace! The children had good margarita pizzas and I enjoyed the Menu Bourguinon with escargots and the boeuf. The sauce was a bit too salty for my taste but overall good quality. I would advise to have dinner here especially when the sun is...
Read moreTypical French rude service. This restaurant typifies what is wrong with France. The waiter bullied us into having desert before we even ordered. When we told him we would wait and see until after our main course, he looked at us as if we were mad. He then called the manager/owner to berate us again. You will honestly find better food at the super market next door. Surprising to see there were quite a few French people in the restaurant, their standards must have really gone down in these past couple...
