L'Elephant Bleu Cannes — Restaurant in Grasse

Due to online recommendations we decided to go to Bangkok Cafe Cannes in search of vegan food. Unfortunately, we did not have the best experience at the restaurant.

We ordered the vegetarian spring rolls after having asked explicitly whether or not these were vegan. A few bites in I noticed that they tasted somewhat "fishy", and sure enough, there were visible shrimps inside of them. I informed a member of the staff, who came over and confirmed that we had recieved the wrong ones, and then laughed and said it was a good thing it was not pork. After a while we got new ones, but then also found that it was in fact fish sauce that came with the rolls, and when asked why they would serve this with vegetarian spring rolls they only seemed puzzled we would ask such a question. In addition, the member of staff (an older woman) to whom we pointed out the mistake was visibly cold towards us for the rest of our meal, and offered no apology for what had happened.

Our tofu curry was ok, but on the menu it said that it would be served with different vegetables, but it consisted only of pineapple and tofu. In addition, the rice was six euros extra, something which had not been disclosed beforehand.

All in all, I would not recommend this place to other vegans. They seem rather slack when it comes to listing allergens, and do seemingly not have a proper understanding of what the terms "vegan" and "vegetarian"...

We came here after having a good experience at Antibes Elephant. But very disappointing. We were the first to sit inside, we ordered then other diners arrived and all got their food. We looked at the waiter and said what's happening. Either he failed to put the order in, or the kitchen failed to cook. We heard a bit of chatter. So our food came late. My chow mein prawns was good but my wife's pad Thai was pretty awful. Some of the noodles were hard, there was no peanuts and chilli, hardly any bean sprouts and tiny pieces of chicken. But the big issue was the balance, the sauce was just sugar as far as we could tell. I tasted the noodles and just awfully sweet. The manager asked us what was wrong as my wife didn't eat and we let him know. He said he would talk to the kitchen as it was his responsibility. But no offer to reduce the E75 bill for lunch for two. Very...

The food here was quite nice but I was not happy about the service and the atmosphere wasn’t welcoming. We were the only guests and the staff took their time before welcoming us to take a seat. We ordered our food and beverage and waited what felt like eternity. The food finally arrived which looked and tasted delicious however the rice was small portion in comparison to chicken I had ordered. It was nice however the service was terrible we were ignored for majority of our stay, we did not receive our beverage and still charged for it. Even though we were there only guests the whole time...
