La Piazza — Restaurant in Grasse

The experience at this restaurant was beyond disappointing—it was outright infuriating. I ordered the Gravlax Salmon after the service staff twice assured me that it was marinated and cooked with lemon and salt, served with avocado and wasabi crème. What arrived at my table? A slab of raw, unsalted salmon with no lemon juicing added, a sad slicing of avocado, and some pretentious, theatrical garnish that added nothing but insult. Meanwhile, the table next to me received a beautifully pan-cooked salmon. When I asked for clarification, the server had the audacity to claim that my dish was “cooked with just salt”—as if that even makes sense.

And then there was my wife’s order. She asked for Bolognaise Noodles. What did she get? Lasagna. The waiter already placed the grated Parmesan and Spoon for noodle. Apparently, the kitchen operates on pure chaos and confusion.

Service was decent, but the kitchen is an absolute disaster. This is not a place to “explore”—it’s a place to suffer unless you already know exactly what to order. And if the food fiasco wasn’t enough, the bartenders were unbearably loud, making it impossible to enjoy even a fraction of the meal. If you must subject yourself to this place, do yourself a favor and sit as far away from the bar as possible.

HOWEVER the service was a HUGE disappointment, specifically when it came time to pay the bill.

When it came time to pay the bill, the server - a large man with a grin like a Cheshire cat - got in my face asking if I would leave a tip.

I said ten percent was fine.

It was only after I'd put my PIN into the card machine that I did the sums.

The rat had put more than 15% on top of the original bill, which I then realised was supposed to include the tip in the first place. Clearly stating 'service compris' and 'prixe net'. He's told me the tip was not included when I asked.

Very dishonest behaviour, and utterly disappointing.

It put a sour end to the whole meal.

In 20+ years of visiting Cannes I have never seen such blatent dishonesty and intentional misdirection.

So, as a result, neither I nor my family will ever return to this restaurant.

If you do decide to visit, you must be aware that tips are included in the price, and, there is a dishonest scumbag waiter who will try to convince you otherwise, and even then, will overcharge and miscalculate at his convenience.

Disastrous service. Walked out without a drink or food at the end. When we walked in, a bunch of waiters have been standing around, joking and chatting, barely noticing us. We selected our table and hoped for the best. After a few minutes I started greeting every waiter who passed us with a huge smile and loud bonjour, until we finally got one to notice us and get us a menu. No drinks, only food menu. Having read it back and forth, I lost my patience and went to the cashier that I would really like to order now. One waiter followed me to the table, tried taking our order, hindered by a very poor level of English and lack of knowledge of the daily offer. We have watched a summary of the French soccer championship without disturbance.
