amazing creative gourmet cuisine - i try to come 2x ayear - a bit off the crowded tourist streets, a gem. multiple courses ( i splurged for the 5+ courses)and amuse bouches, little treats along the way. I usually sit (in past) outside on terrace but with poorer colder weather yesterday i sat indoors, for first time; frankly that is my only 'complaint' - very noisy acoustics generally (conversations etc echoing) and then at times extra loud music which made conversation (business or personal) challenging, however they lowered the volume when asked. (I personally love just having the enjoyment of the food without the powerful music, or having it in quieter background ....but its a matter of opinion and maybe my age ;).) Every course amazing from starter through to main course(s) - fresh fish, perfection beef, creative sides - through to dessert - a 'to die for' chocolate dessert and crafted 'upside down broken flower pot' surprise (i wont describe it here, have it /see for yourself!) |Thanx again for great evening and the chef's/waiter's personal touch/service and explanations were warm...
Read moreThe food at Le Bistrot Gourmand was excellent—delicious, creatively prepared, and attractively presented. The quality of the ingredients is high and fully meets the standards of a fine dining establishment. A real treat for the taste buds!
Unfortunately, the service did not match the quality of the food. It seemed exaggerated, artificial, and more contrived than authentic – which contrasted with the culinary performance. One starter was suddenly "no longer available" after it had already been ordered (another starter was simply brought instead). There was also a mix-up with one of the main courses: instead of the dish we had ordered, we were served the most expensive dish on the menu – a faux pas that gave the impression that the focus here was on sales rather than the guest.
Conclusion: Culinary excellence – a delight with attention to detail. However, the service seems unnecessarily artificial and detracts from the overall experience. It's a shame, because Le Bistrot Gourmand doesn't really need...
Read moreService was great, the staff were kind and helpful. The food was great when it comes to taste, I had the ribeye, my issue was the handling of the meat, while I respect a possible difference in serving culture I expected the Ribeye steak to be cleaned: silverskin and cartelage removed before being prepared, this is disappointing as the eating experience becomes more of an annoyance. The meat was great tasting and it was perfectly medium rare as I ordered it, but the experience of having to sort away almost 30% of the steak because it’s inedible is just not fun.
I respect that it may be a good experience for the guest to recieve a plate that is heaping, it still seems a waste to serve this, since many people will discard much more of the meat than I.
If I may recommend: cut away the excess fat, silverskin and cartilage and sort it so that you can use the waste meat for your tar tar, as you can get maybe two portions worth of meat for every five ribeyes, thus...
