It is with great pleasure that I could enjoy an evening at the wonderful Table 22 restaurant, seated on the charming terrace outside to relish the warm evening air.
I began with the fried chard ravioli - a light and unimposing dish perfect to open the stomach for what's to come.
Then came the real deal - the lobster ravioli with the shell fish sauce emulsion.. wow.. rarely have I found such mystical depths of the ocean. The lobster meat was tender and perfectly fleshy. Vraiimant truly exquisite!
Next, I was seriously hesitating between the lamb and the beef but I went with the classic filet de bœuf. By far the best bordelaise sauce I've ever tasted with the beef, again huge depths were found lying deep in the atomic structure of the sauce. So far 10/10 on the sauces, bravo ! My only qualm was that the beef was slightly overcooked, I would have preferred it a bit rarer. The accompanying market vegetables of the day were lovely and neat.
Finally, the desert. I went for the chocolate raspberry layer cake, sorbet, coulis and biscuit. The sorbet was mind blowingly tasty and light, the coulis and the biscuit were delicious, and the layer cake with the raspberry was an excellent pairing - a real treat after a long day's work.
Before I finish, I have to speak about the service. Very rarely do you find such warm, welcoming professional hospitality. Maline, the sommelier, took time to find the right choice of wine for each stage of meal. Alex, the waitor went the extra mile to make an extraordinary cocktail. And finally, the magnificent Marie-Amelie, few words can describe how appreciative I am for the best service I've received in my life. Not only did she have the patience to put up with all my bloody stories she also opened my eye and taught me so many indispensable things. Her speed of service was always met with such calmness, which is a profoundly rare quality to have. A real pleasure to have been served by such a marvellous team, a truly...
Read moreWe were expecting an experience worthy of a Michelin starred restaurant. Am afraid to say this restaurant DEFINITELY DID NOT live up to what I read and expected. It was more like what some of the lower ranked reviews wrote. Acceptable Food, bad and dishonest service asking for us for a service tip when that is not the case anywhere in France especially given the service was subpar. Maybe it was the American accent or whatever. Specifics: Squash Blossoms appetizer was outstanding as was the Foiegras. The John Dory entree was excellent as was the Risotto. The lobster ravioli was submerged in cream sauce and hard to tell quality of lobster meat. Restaurant is understandably not kid-friendly but servers do not have to be rude to paying customers. We requested butter for the kids and the wait staff came back with it as if she was doing us an incredible favor. Wine List is outstanding and sommelier was knowledgeable enough. Desserts were very good . Grappa was listed on the digestive menu and requested only for the sommelier to come back and say the ran out of it. Really in Cannes at a Michelin starred restaurant ..?
Pro tip: If you want to experience a proper Michelin starred restaurant .. go to Tokyo instead and you will see the level of and...
Read moreTruly a remarkable experience and well-deserving of its place on the Michelin Guide, Table 22, located at the top of a narrow winding road and steep staircase, is the best food I have had in France to date.
My wife and I started with truffle arancini, which had a delicate fry and somehow ate light even though it was a fried ball of rice with cream and cheese, and the lobster ravioli, which had full lobster meat pieces in it and was sauced with what tasted like a foamed lobster bisque sauce (which happens to be my favorite soup).
She then had the truffle risotto, which was made with the most fantastic tasting lamb broth, and I had an excellent filet of beef with a vegetable and potato side. We finished with what I think was named chocolate cake with raspberry but came out as beautiful tarts with delicious chocolate, fresh strawberries, a stunning raspberry sauce, and delicious raspberry sorbet.
Unlike some of the other reviews, both of our waiters were the nicest people and the sommelier immediately guided us to a fantastic bottle of wine. I can’t recommend this place enough and will be thinking about the lobster ravioli sauce, the risotto broth flavor, and the raspberry dessert until we are able to...
