Le Medieval in Saint-Émilion was a highlight of our trip. The charming medieval setting, paired with the best coq au vin and duck confit we’ve tasted, made it unforgettable. Everything felt home-cooked and full of flavor, from the rich dishes to the indulgent dessert and hot chocolate. The owner’s attention to detail and warm hospitality truly stood out, making us feel like welcomed guests. Highly recommend for anyone visiting the area!

This small restaurant is all the way out in saint emilion, we had a large group planned to visit, so we had preselected our three courses. They were as quick as they could be given there were 28 of us. The food was great well presented and tasted great. There were a lot of empty plates and happy faces. Given the opportunity I would go back, but given the remoteness it would be difficult.

We made the mistake of stopping at this place for coffee before leaving town. The establishment was completely empty, and we assumed it was a café. Unfortunately, this turned out to be a big problem for the staff.

When we tried to order in French, my boyfriend mispronounced a word. Instead of helping, the waitress pretended not to understand, even though it was clear what we meant. Her behavior was very rude—at one point, she yanked the tablecloth from under us in an unnecessarily rough manner.

They brought our coffees along with the bill without us asking, creating a rushed and unwelcoming experience. The service was shockingly unfriendly. One of the waiters made odd and disgusting noises while preparing our order, leaving us worried about the hygiene and preparation of our drinks. After that, we decided against ordering anything else and regretted even having the coffee.

We also witnessed the same rude treatment toward two other customers—an elderly woman and her daughter—who ordered wine. The staff openly complained in French about customers only ordering drinks, seemingly unaware that we understood them.

If the staff didn’t want people ordering just drinks, they could have communicated that clearly or encouraged us to try additional items in a polite way. A good attitude could have easily persuaded us to try dessert or a meal. Instead, their hostility ensured we would never return.

We left disgusted and went to the bakery across the street, where we were welcomed with friendly service and enjoyed delicious pastries and baguettes.

We cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone due to the rude and unprofessional service. And if you only want drinks, don’t even think about...

The service was a little bit rude. Me and my partner went there because we were in a hurry and we wanted to get a quick sandwich, which they advertised. However, as soon as we specified we wanted the sandwiches we were told that we could not really have them as we could see they were clearly expecting a big consumption. We are young people and we don’t like at all restaurants that treat you rudely because you are a young person and you don’t have the financial capabilities of an older one. Definitely a tourist scam and the food was not very good (we order omelettes and they barely had anything inside plus it came with a sad piece of Roman lettuce). At the end of the meal they tried to charge us 60€ for two omelettes and a side of fries (no drinks ordered). While this was ultimately a mistake, I asked them to review the bill and they gave me dirty looks and...

A nice older waiter showed us to the table. I ordered the menu deal, beforehand warning her about my lactose allergy. The waiter said it's okay and i will have a sorbet for desser. The soup was delicious, then came the steak. I got it well-done, the flavour of the steak was okay except it was seriously lacking salt, and i had to saw the plate in half with the knife to cut off a piece. Then came dessert, and I was waiting for my promised sorbet, but then the waiter said I couldn't have it anymore. When I had to pay, the waiter wanted to charge me the full price, I said I wouldn't pay the full price because I didn't have any dessert. Then she got really mad at me that I didn't want to pay for things I didn't eat. After lunch my friend wanted to use the restroom, and the same old waitress rudely...
