Even before we arrived, Danny's brilliant communication with my girlfriend set the tone for what was to come. His passion for wine was evident, and he was incredibly knowledgeable about their impressive wine selection. As a true sommelier, he guided us through a delightful array of wines, ensuring that our choices perfectly complemented our preferences.

The ambiance at Sous La Robe was cool, relaxed, and inviting. The bar's interior exuded charm, and we loved the great outdoor space at the rear, where we could bask in the warm Saint Emilion weather while sipping on excellent wine.

The standout feature was the excellent cheese selection, which delighted our taste buds and paired wonderfully with the wine selection. We must mention co-owner Charlie's unforgettable shallot and honey jam. This delectable creation was a revelation – the perfect balance of sweet and savoury. It was an absolute showstopper and an accompaniment that we would happily fly from the UK to France just to savour again.

What to say about Sous la Robe.....magnifique! Saint-Émilion has just one late opening bar, and this is it, but it's absolutely worth a visit. I spent all three of my evenings in the village here, and the owners Charly and Danny have done an amazing job of creating a lovely, welcoming atmosphere along with classy surroundings. The wine list is extensive and high quality, with beer, gin and cognac (all the good stuff of course) being alternative options should you require it. A shout out too to the talented Seif who runs the kitchen providing delicious home cooked French options with some beautiful cheese and charcuterie boards, all with flair and a smile on his face. My husband and I booked a wine tour with Sous la robe, and it was the best decision ever! We were introduced to the family property of Mr Berrouet, and learnt more about the family’s history and wine philosophy, and to top it off the wine was gorgeous! After the visit, we were brought back to their cosy bar for a comparative tasting, and it was great to try out the more boutique wines that we couldn’t find in our home country, that we could also ship back!
