I’ve never been so appalled by a restaurant experience in my life. Au Cadet de Gascogne is an absolute disgrace. They had the nerve to serve me frozen food — yes, literally ice-cold in the center, while pretending it was freshly cooked. The plate was warm on the outside, but when I cut into it, it was still frozen. How can any real kitchen allow that to happen? It’s beyond unprofessional — it’s insulting.
When I brought this up to the staff, expecting at least an apology or a solution, I was met with arrogance, rudeness, and total indifference. They clearly didn’t care. No replacement. No refund. Not even basic respect. It felt like I was being treated like a nuisance instead of a paying customer. Absolutely disgusting behavior from people who are supposed to represent French hospitality.
The restaurant itself is nothing more than a cheap tourist trap—a place that survives off its location and scams visitors with microwaved garbage and zero service. The prices are outrageous for the garbage they serve. It’s a complete rip-off, and they clearly rely on tourists not coming back to get away with this kind of thing.
I am deeply disappointed and honestly angry that I wasted my money here. This place does not represent Paris, French cuisine, or decent customer service in any way. If you value your time, money, and dignity, do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY from Au Cadet de Gascogne....
Read moreBeautiful restaurant in Montmartre with a pleasing garden. The food was delicious. As starter we had a baked cheese coaded in bacon with slices of apple and walnuts and also a bit of salad with light dressing. The starter was a very playful combination of flavors, also very light. As main course we have chosen a salad with prawns, salmon and avocado and for the second one we went for the traditional french mussels in white wine broth. The portion of the salad was actually pretty big which was a plus for us. The dish was really tasteful and refreshing after a hot day in Paris. The bowl of mussels was delicious and the broth was just right. The mussels normally come with a bunch of french fries, but when we asked the waiter if the fries can be switched for a green beans that wasn’t a problem. The green beans had a mild garlic flavor and weren’t oily, which was another plus for us. For a dessert we had a small ristretto and the best Crème brûlée I have ever had. The caramelized crust was so thin and delecant and the inside was really smooth and sweet. I have to admit that when I took the first bite of the Crème brûlée it has made me smile. The staff was also really friendly and helpful. Our waiter was a really fast and friendly guy, who made our experience even greater. If you ever make it to Montmartre and want some delicious food in classic french...
Read moreSome of the food is OK, like the escargot, but everything else is not that great, especially since the prices are way too expensive. Not just a little pricey, way over priced. There are much better places for much better prices all over the city and even in this local area.
My last experience was awful. My dinner was served to me cold -- not just kind of hot, or even warm, it was the temperature of the air and it was chilly that night. I could tell it had been sitting for quite a while. I waited for 10-15 minutes for the waitress to return, but she was gone somewhere. So, I asked another employee to please take care of my dinner. Almost an hour later the waitress returned and said she would reheat my dinner (WTF?! The other guy just let it sit the entire time).
At this point my date was finished with her meal. I said don't bother, take it off the bill and bring the check. She said she couldn't do that I have to pay for it. She went on and on for some time; then, she finally walked away. Ten minutes later she brought the bill with my dinner subtracted. Don't be a wussy if some place in Paris is trying to screw you; demand what you deserve. Luckily, places like this...
