We visited La Bohème Montmartre on a hot Saturday afternoon while exploring Montmartre. The place looked lovely and quiet, a charming spot right in the heart of the neighborhood. We were warmly greeted by a waiter at the entrance who kindly seated us at a spacious indoor table. We explained we were looking to have some drinks and potentially order food later. Everything felt perfect at first. While we started browsing the menu and discussing food options (as we’d been walking for hours and knew we’d need a proper break soon), another waiter approached us. When I explained we’d start with drinks but likely order food shortly, he bluntly told us (in an unnecessarily rude manner) that if we were just drinking, we had to leave the table and sit outside. He didn’t wait for any response, just turned his back and walked away. We were stunned. Especially as we had two kids with us and the restaurant was nearly empty. The contrast between the first waiter’s warm welcome and the second waiter’s abruptness was stark. Out of respect for the way we were treated, we chose to leave without ordering anything. Sadly, what could have been a relaxing break in a beautiful location turned into a frustrating experience. The menu looked good and the food from what we could see looked decent enough.

The food was great but it took really long to get to us. If you want to be in and out quickly, think twice before you go to this restaurant. The waiter was very nice, but it seemed like it was only him serving 20 tables, more staff is probably needed. We were 2 people and were there for almost 3 hours. We asked for the check and it took them like 30 minutes to bring it. We had to get up and show that we were leaving in order for them to bring it. This was frustrating as a tourist because you expect to be in and out quickly as you don’t have much time to spare. At the end, the waiter also asked if we wanted to tip, which I felt was unnecessary considering the different tipping culture in Europe. They see you’re American and will ask for tip.

. Unfortunately, the beautiful interior of the restaurant does not compensate for the impression of weak cuisine and unpalatable dishes. The restaurant staff know that customers will always come to them because the place is central, in the epicentre of Montmartre, so they do not care about the quality of the food. The onion soup consists of 50% large pieces of bread, some onions and a little bit of cheese. The vegetable salad is partially edible, although a number of the ingredients are spoilt, the whole thing is heavily drenched in sauce. Worse execution is rare to find anywhere. And so it is with many dishes. Mussels of normal flavour. Coffee is no good, although it costs 6 euros per cup. I do not recommend it.

Lovely atmosphere, good food, below average service.

From the outside this cafe has an enchanting, inviting ambience that lures you in with lights, florals, and a lovely colour scheme. The inside is warm, welcoming, and comfortable. The menu is enticing, and the food was hot, fresh, and tasty. We ordered the Burrata: excellent! Fresh, flavourful, delicious! 5/5 Pork ribs: Average ! Hot, saucy, fell off the bone, not quite as expected. 3/5. Fish & chips: good! Hot, fresh, crisp. 4/5. Would consider the meals over priced for what was served.

We did not order dessert as we were both full from our meals, and full from terrible service!

The service was never welcoming or friendly. But we had multiple issues with the service of our meals. Firstly, we ordered the burrata as entree to share and a main meal each. We were served the burrata and my husband’s fish and chips together. An entree and a main served together at the same time? We queried this and were answered with a quizzical look. Not wanting to eat his main immediately so he could enjoy his entree and so I would not eat my main alone, my husband requested they please take his main back to the kitchen to keep warm - to their credit they did not hesitate and took his meal back to the kitchen. Following our entree, they brought my husband a fresh main of fish and chips which was excellent. They then, however, served me the incorrect main - confit duck instead of pork ribs. Again, a quizzical look when this was queried, they even checked their order platform to double check what I’d ordered! They took away the duck and put through an order of ribs, but after everything my husband and I did end up eating our mains separately. There was no apology for either mix up. After declining the dessert menu and requesting the bill, we then waited 10-15 minutes for the bill, and when it did finally come the server asked for a tip!!! I think I almost fell off my chair with my dropped jaw at this point, probably the cherry on top of his very subpar service to be honest :’) I would not return purely on the basis of poor service and...

Went for lunch with wife and daughter. All I can say is...meh. The restaurant sits at a high tourist traffic area in Montmartre. Very nice outdoor seating to people watch and enjoy coffee or wine. It was January when we dined, so we dined indoors. Amazing the difference the area is during spring vs. winter. (been to Montmartre both seasons)Nicely decorated restaurant. Small, tightly packed tables typical of French restaurants. Wife and daughter each ordered pizza. One Margherita, one vegetarian. I ordered a chicken Caesar salad. Pizzas were about 12 inches. I know we were NOT in Italy or NYC, but the dough was kind of soggy, and the pizza overall was just kind of bland compared to other similar pies consumed in the US. My chicken Caesar was just ok. The chicken was a panko bread crumb fried breast filet and was cold. It was sliced and sitting on top of the dressing soaked lettuce.

On a positive note. The serive was friendly and efficient. The French couple next to our table ordered an order of the escargot and then ordered two more. They commented that the escargot was very good. So, there's that.

If we were to return to Montmartre again, I believe we would go somewhere else and maybe do your research and...
