Authentic great tasting French bistro with great service A wonderfully warm welcome from Efi and we were quickly seated in the window overlooking Rue Mouffetard (situated in the fifth arrondissement of Paris - one of Paris's oldest and liveliest neighbourhoods (that also has the most amazing fresh fruit, seafood, meat, cheeses).

The menu is in both French and English and Efi is fluent in English which meant all our questions were answered and she assisted in our menu selections. Fresh baguette slices were complimentary and the perfect start to our evening. We shared a Panache de salade aux lardons et oeuf poche (mixed salad with bacon and poached egg) for starter – fresh, delicious and a generous portion. For main course my husband had the Confit de canard, pommes sautees (duck confit, fried potatoes) which was the best he has ever eaten – perfectly cooked and so exquisite. I had the entrecote grille sauce au choix (steak which I had with bearnaise sauce) which was excellent with a very tasty bearnaise sauce.

Food was well priced AND lots of great combination specials too. Drinks were really well priced. We had a bottle of Cotes du Rhone 2020 red wine which was a good accompaniment to our meal.

Service really made our night wonderful too – with the warmth, attentiveness and professionalism of Efi. Thanks Efi, our first night in Paris! ...

Visited Paris with family in July 2025. While planning the trip, we looked into various dinner options, and Au Petit Bistrot stood out as a wonderful choice.

The restaurant is small but very cozy, with soft, comfortable furniture and a calm, relaxed atmosphere. The area around the restaurant isn’t too busy, which added to the peaceful dining experience. Table reservations are available, which is a great plus.

We were greeted and served with genuine warmth and care — the service was so attentive, it honestly made us feel like VIP guests. It was both surprising and delightful.

The food was delicious, beautifully presented, and served quickly. Portion sizes were just right — not large, but satisfying enough to leave us full and happy. The pricing was reasonable, even pleasantly affordable by Paris standards.

We were absolutely delighted with our dinner and had a truly enjoyable evening. A special thank-you to the staff for making the experience so memorable.

Rating: 5 out of 5. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a cozy, quality dinner...

Charming place at the heart of Paris surrounded by lovely markets and shops. We were hungry and decided to order 2 simple meals - duck + lamb steaks all with dauphine potatoes. We also asked for a salad since previous good experiences. The salad was v average: a few lettuce, 2 pieces of tomato, an ok source - those from supermarket jars with pieces of toast with warm goat cheese. Extra bread was provided but old and chewie. Food arrived. Duck was ok. Peppercorn sauce was good but dauphine potatoes were hard, cold and the white sauce tasteless! Steaks were ok but no sign of herbs! The same cold dauphine hard and cold potatoes. Another chapter of our gastronomical disappointments in France! This time the damage cost only 35 euros! But it could have...

Fantastic spot for authentic French food at a reasonable price. Their "Formula" menu, priced at about 22€, includes an appetizer, main dish and dessert (or cheese plate) - excellent value for the quality. The French onion soup was rich and cheesy, and the escargots were a standout with a beatiful garlic butter sauce. For the main course, the steak was perfectly cooked for medium rare, just as ordered, while duck, lamb and salmon were also flavourful and satisfying, clearly made with care. The atmophere was cozy, and the waiter was friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed it so much that we ended up coming back twice, even though we were only in Paris for a few days. Would recommend!
