We came to Baillote to have a nice French dinning experience.
For a starter, we tried the Langoustine Raviolis. The portion is quite small and pricy, 3 raviolis are 26€. However the flavor was amazing. The sauce was so delicious we almost licked the plates. I personally don’t mind the high prices when the food exceeds my expectations.
As our mains, we tried some classics. The duck and the fish.
The duck was the best duck we have eaten in Paris. It was tender, the skin was crispy. Really well cooked.
The fish was rich and fatty and the sauce was nice. It was good, not mind blowing. But exceeded my expectations given that most restaurants serve you quite bland boiled fish.
For dessert, we tried the Mango Variation and the Chai Tea Soufflé.
The Chai Tea soufflé was quite nice. It had a nice texture and flavor. The Cointreau ice cream that comes with it was very unique and had a nice floral flavor. We really enjoyed this dessert.
The mango variation was mind blowing. The crispiness of the cookie, the slightly chewy texture of the cheese and the contrast of the sour lemon sorbet and mango made it a unique experience. The flavors and textures balance in a delightful and refreshing way. I am happy to say this is the best dessert I have eaten in my life. It was so good we ordered another one.
The service was great and kind. We really enjoyed our...
Read moreFor a restaurant of Japanese chef and Asian kitchen staff, the service was disappointing towards non-Japanese Asian tourists. We were sitting between two white couples and it did not take us long to notice that every piece of service arrived later than the neighbors. The dessert menu from the lady took verbal reminder to finally arrive while the couples next to us got the menu, got the order picked up and got to finish their dessert seamlessly. They also got one starter mistakenly and we took that without calling it out.
The place is very crowed that every bit of small talk goes into the next tables. The tables are so close to each other that sitting at the long couch means no toilet the entire dinner.
The highlight of the restaurant might be its obvious Japanese influence in flavoring and ingredients. But given its majority clientele of tourist and near half from Asia, the menu may have come across as missing the authenticity of French cuisine and its spirited authenticity.
Overall we were disappointed after we booked the place a month in advance due to the overall expedience, its service and lack...

Entrée - Tataki de Thon Rouge Fresh and fragrant aroma. It smelt as it tasted. Zingy, refreshing, cleaning. The texture of the fish just melted in the mouth, and the sauce was too good to not mop it up with my bread.
Plays - Pêche du Jour Smelt like being at the seaside. A more complicated and conflicting dish. Flavours and textures that alone would be okay, were a little confusing together. I didn’t dislike it, but I didn’t love it. Especially not as much as the entrée. Compared to that and the dessert, the main course was a punk rock band. Maybe the was the point?
Dessert - Tomate D’Été This was back to the form of the starter. Aroma, flavour, texture was all in harmony. I have NEVER heard of tomatoes being used in a dessert, not this was perfect and the tomatoes really worked. The most cleaning dish I have ever had. And left a slight tingle on the tongue as it cleared away interfering flavours from the past!
A little detour on the main course, but a solid...
