After a long day in Paris, we visited this restaurant near the boat station before going on a city tour later. The location and ambience were promising, and we got a table right away. The menu selection was fine, and we chose burgers, with me adding a soup as an appetizer. The food was satisfactory, though not exceptional, but the prices were very reasonable for the location.
However, the overall impression was marred by the unfriendliness of the staff. The gentleman who assigned us our table appeared emotionless but hospitable. In contrast, our young waiter with a distinctive hairstyle showed no positive emotions. He repeatedly spoke to us in French, despite knowing we only spoke English. The cutlery was nearly tossed at us, and the food was slammed onto the table while he hummed a tune. We were never asked if everything was okay or if we had any needs.
The rudest experience occurred when we were paying. The bill was placed on the table without a word. When we later asked to pay by card, the waiter reacted with annoyance, making dismissive faces behind my partner’s back. I found this behavior completely inappropriate. If someone dislikes their job, they might be better off staying at home. I expected much more from a restaurant near the Eiffel Tower. It's a pity, as the ambience and value for money have much...
Read moreFood was ok, but nothing outstanding. The service was very rushed - we got a wrong order first (fresh camembert instead of baked) and got a bottled water instead of jug with a tap water (like locals do) before we saw it: the bottle was opened, so was too late to say anything when we noticed.
What put us off from ever returning to this place is that my bag was stolen - we were sitting inside not even at the terrace, and quite far away from the door, but no one saw how it happened. The staff told us we could only see CCTV footage the following day as they didn’t have access to it. Not sure how true it was.
All the cards and cash were in the bag - the staff didn’t care and luckily we had a spare card in a jacket and managed to pay. They even charged us more than what we had to pay which we only noticed later, as we were preocuppied with other thoughts obviously. So the place looks really nice from the outside, but the whole experience seemed dodgy and unpleasant.
P.S. got a call from the police couple of hours later - they found the bag near the restaurant, with no cash of course and a broken zip, the rest was there. They said similar thing happened in that place before, so I would keep...
Read moreWe have recently visited Brasserie de la Tour Eiffel. We wanted to take a break before we visit Tour Eiffel. The place seemed to be so cosy and the best place to enjoy our time in a parisian-style brasserie.
We decided to order croque madame. We started cutting it, when we realised that something was missing. They brought us something looking like a toast without the egg on the top, which we all know that is a key ingredient of this dish.
I have asked somebody, who seemed to run the place, where the egg was and he brought it in a separate dish, not even suggesting bringing a new, proper dish.
However, the one thing that was really disappointing and ruined the whole Parisian -style-brasserie experience that we have expected, was the waiter that took our order. He was rude and not professional, considering the fact that he brought the incomplete dish.
When he came to our table he was singing /mourmouring and seemed unbothered going with that attitude in the other tables (looking his nails, standing in the wall looking very bored).
An advice to the owner: you have a beautiful brasserie in a smashing location. Please choose your staff wisely/ or train them to be...
