Great location with Champ De Mars and Bir Hakeim stations nearby if you're coming by rail/metro. There's also a taxi rank a few yards down the street for getting back to the mainline stations or airports. The time taken by taxi or metro to get to gare du Nord is 30 minutes, so we saved money and paid 2.50 Euros for the metro instead. I paid 210 euros extra to upgrade for our three night stay, which in my opinion, was not worth it at all. In total I think we spent about £350 per night. It was our wedding anniversary, and was very disappointed. The view was great from Room 1208, but the room itself was screaming for a deep clean and refurbishment. It was poorly painted with damaged fixtures and fittings and not a single skirting board matched - they were also poorly cut and finished and covered in gloopy gloss paint in that classic "landlord special" style. The furniture was cheap with no proper bedside tables, and no desk/chair/mirror set up to do hair and make up. That's a big issue for me as I don't like to stand up nor sit on the floor to do my hair and make up. I don't like doing make up in humid bathrooms either. The rooms are very small and get humid quickly. I had to keep opening the window for a breath of air. The shower itself was a rainfall overhead shower with bugger all water pressure so it was difficult to wash and condition my hair properly. The temperature kept changing from hot to cold every 30 seconds and was not consistent. The toilet is separate from the bathroom, and is unventilated - getting very hot very quickly and totally claustrophobic. They'd painted over the hinges and over the damaged toilet roll holder which was falling apart, and there were huge layers of plywood chipped off the door which made the room look cheap and nasty. The fact they charged us extra for this room makes me want to cry. There was a disgusting old shit-stained bog brush hanging off the wall in the toilet. Our floor was the 'privilege' suite but it's also the same floor with the cabin crew waiting room, so pretty much the entirety of our stay we didn't get a good night's sleep - they were playing loud music, banging around, scraping furniture, etc for hours on end, coming and going at all hours. The carpets in the hallway were filthy with all sorts of stains, and starting to fray. A couple of times we went to breakfast staff were gathered around laughing and joking and not acknowledging or greeting guests appropriately. This is a Mercure for god's sake and absolutely not in any way, a 4 star hotel and not up to scratch for the normal Mercure standard. I feel like I was mugged and that head office should go and stay there to fully "appreciate" it. I spent a lot of money on this hotel for a very special occasion and have been left feeling robbed and incredibly disappointed.
PRO: Location/view, 2 juices and a bottle of water in the free mini-bar daily, handwash/lotion/body wash provided, coffee machine in room, taxi rank nearby, 2 metro/RER stations close by, some nice French bistro's nearby
CON: Expensive, upgrade not worth it, breakfast options are limited, rooms not entirely clean, cheap furnishings in the premium rooms, small rooms, poor condition, filthy crapets in the hallway, no carpets at all in the bedroom only laminate, lifts not always working with no access to stairs - sometimes waiting 15 minutes for the lift - 3 lifts and 2 inoperable, hotel itself was very hot and in-room air conditioning not working properly (I'm perimenopausal with night-time hot flushes that can make me puke, so this was a real test of endurance for me)
Ultimate response - I would NEVER stay here again. I regret...
Read moreThe hotel is in a prime location, a stone throw away from Eiffel Tower. It is very accessible from CDG airport, Le bus Direct last stop (Tour Eiffel) is just around the corner (return tickets are EU30 from T2). We have booked a privilege room with the tower view, free mini fridge and breakfast included. The view of the rower is good, as we were on 11th and 10th floors. Vuews from the lower parts of the tower are obscured by Pullman hotel. The rooms are on the small side, our was upgraded free to a junior suite after first night due to some fire detector issue. As for the Accor Club membership, I thought we will get a free upgrade offered at the chec-in, but this wasn't mentioned at all. After the second night (first in the suite) the fridge/coffee was not restocked, but this was quickly sorted by the reception. Safe is free of charge and set on a code of your choice. Coffe machine provided and refills stocked up daily, although not enough of milk (just two tiny pots) and cups are paper. I would expect better effort! The suite had same coffee machine as in the restaurant, so we helped ourselves as unfortunately the room service left wrong types of pods. Beds are very comfortable, there are also two different pillows (soft and hard) so you can choose what suits you best. Wardrobe space is good for the lenght of our stay and probably for longer journeys as well. The wardrobe space was the same in a room and the suite, so not too sure how this would work if more people travelling. What is missing is drawer units by the beds, as there are only tables provided. Also the number of electrical sockets is insufficient, considering most people travel with smart phones, tablets, cameras, etc. Something to look to improve. There were also Bose Soundlik stations in both room and suite, but we didn't use these. For tourist, I suppose it is not necessity as we have spent most of the days out. Aircon seems to be of low efficiency (although quiet on the plus side), or at least this was our experience (though it was very hot outside). Bathrooms and toilest are separate (both room and suite) and fitted with generous shower cabins. In the suite we also had Skinjay essential oils capsules provided. Breakfast is of good selection and value (continental). Choice of scrambled/boiled eggs, fried bacon/sausage, pancakes, cold ham, cheese, fruits, yoghurt, cereals, milk, orange/apple juice, coffe, teas, pastries, etc. Last day we were leaving before they serve breakfast and we asked for a breakfast box. This was the biggest downfall of the stay, The box contained 1 x Kellogs Special K bar, 1 x can of orange juice, 1 x chocolate cake, 1 x apple compote pot. This is far too poor of a breakfst box, considering they sell sandwiches at reception. Also no coffee offered! At the same cost as restaurant breakfast I found it unacceptable. There is a gym at the 12th floor. There is one treadmill (broken during our stay), two cycles and 3 other weight lift machines. Towels are provided, along with water and ice dispensers as well as hygienic wipes. Just outside of the hotel is a small sports complex, where you can run on an outdoor track for free. There are also basketball and football areas on the same grounds. Not sure what other anmenities they offer as didn't...
