Revised version Nov 2023: from 4 to 5 stars. Significant improvement on the quality and creativity of the pizze. We had a pesto, spicy sausage, truffle and Genovese. I have to admit the Genovese is the reason why this is still not a 5-star restaurant. it is basically an onion soup on a pizza. the beef was totally absent, and the carrots were scarce. Definitely not a keeper. the 3 others were amazing and/or appetizing (did not try the sausage). The tiramisu was to die for, and the cheese cake tasty and well. Staff was very friendly. well done Casa di Peppe for the improvement. Just a little more and this will be perfect. thanks!
Revised version Sept 2022. from 3 to 4 stars (even 4.5) Went back with family after more than 1y hiatus. I did not like the fact you could only book online and it was hard to find someone in charge sometimes, no-one could help on the phone or even when you went in person. Anyway, i booked online, 1 week in advance. Surprisingly, it was a much more pleasant experience than the previous time. The appetizers, parmiggiana di melanzane and Arancini with truffles were delicious. The pizze came very quickly. we had the vegetariana and the tonnarella. Still a bit wet (not my style) but tasty and innovative for sure. We ended up on a high note with Baba au Rhum, Tiramisu and Angelotti and everything was top notch. The waitress, a napoli-native, was smiling and caring. overall a wonderful experience 4.5 starts experience. I would go for the 5 if we could book more easily and if the pizze were a little bit more "conventional". A very recommended experience nonetheless.
Great start with home made pizzas and desserts from a decorated chef. Not too much fan of the important quantity of crust of the sides and it also happened the 3 pizzas were not very warm (on the contrary). A bit weird. Perhaps some adjustments needed on the ovens? (This restaurant's Quartier Latin franchise just Kick-started). Home made tiramisu was scromptuous but perhaps too sweet. One of the best Italian restaurants in the area anyway (ps: they need to fix some of their typos...
Read moreOur first visit in summer of 2021 was incredible: we stumbled upon Casa di Peppe by accident, and it happened to be the best pizza we ever had (I also wrote a positive review back then) and we’ve always talked about this place being the “best pizza ever” which was literally true as that year they got the award “best pizza in Europe”.
Fast forward to today, 4 years later, we were excited to come back. Reserved a table and the first thing we noticed was a waiting line set up and expanded terrace. The vibe is different. They expanded, and it feels like a factory. “Reservation!? Name??” and chop chop you’re rushed to your table. It smelled like cleaning goods inside, so we asked to be moved to a table outside. Got this tiny table, very Parisian so not a big deal, but it was at a spot where we got overlooked (everybody else around us). We managed to order our starter, pizzas and a bottle of wine eventually.
Guests around us just order the pizza for the sake of trying this renowned pizza. No drinks. No starters. No extras. So, the vibe is off. The waiters rush through the night, as if because they want to vacate the table as soon as possible, to seat the guests in the waiting line.
The pizza is still good. However, it was cold, I guess because they are serving double the amount of tables with the same kitchen. It certainly wasn’t as good as 4 years ago. The authentic experience is gone. It’s more like a fast food restaurant experience now.
Wouldn’t come back and...
Read moreCasa di Peppe was the culinary highlight of our family’s spring break trip to Paris. As soon as we walked in, we knew it was going to be amazing. The sound of employees speaking Italian, the warm, lively atmosphere—it felt like stepping into a scene from a movie about a family-owned Italian restaurant. And the pizza? Easily the best we’ve ever had! The house-made crust was perfectly crispy and chewy, and every ingredient tasted fresh and authentic. The cheese was sublime and heavenly. The wine was delicious. Our 3 kids—ages 16, 13, and 10–perked right up at the first bite, even in the throes of jet lag since it was our first day of the trip after an extremely long day and night of traveling. The staff was incredibly welcoming, especially Samir, who made us feel right at home. We struck up a fun conversation with him about Adidas shoes after I complimented his—turns out they were the exact same ones my 13-year-old son was wearing! Between the phenomenal food and the incredible hospitality, this place is an absolute must-visit. We’ll...
