My husband and I recently returned home from our honeymoon abroad in Europe. We arrived at our hotel, Hotel Les Dames du Pantheon around 7:00pm on the evening of Thursday, December 6, 2018. The staff seemed very accommodating during the check-in process and offered to take all of our luggage (which we had a lot) to our room. We had informed the hotel before our arrival that we would be there for our honeymoon, but were surprised to find that no extra steps were taken to make our stay special and memorable on their end. At the very least, a hand-written card would've been very thoughtful. When we finally got up to our room, we noticed that it was quite small. Now, we FULLY understand that many hotels in Europe are much smaller than they are in the US, but based off of the booking, we also understood that we booked a Superior Pantheon Balcony Room. When we book trips, we make sure to look at photos and check the website to find out what type of room we will be in and attached are some photos directly from their website showing the room that we booked. Again, much to our surprise, the room we were put in was not the same as what we booked. According to the photos on the website, we were put in a Superior Pantheon Room, which is also smaller than the room that we booked. Please see attached photos for description of rooms. Due to the extensive travel, we planned to address this with the hotel the following morning, which is what we did. My husband and I proceeded to the front desk to address the issue with the room and voice our concerns along with showing photos of the room we actually booked, but they ensured us that we were in the correct room. I was not convinced of this, as I compared all descriptions and photos, and came to the conclusion that we were definitely in the wrong room. Even after I respectfully disagreed and continued to show them photos of the difference, they said there was nothing they could do and proceeded to show no respect for our concern, nor were they apologetic in any way. We were told that all of the rooms are designed differently and that we were certainly in the correct room, but offered no explanation as to why the photos of the room we were supposed to be in did not match the room we were actually in. My biggest concern lies in the fact that they charged us incorrectly because the room we paid for was more than the room we actually stayed in. I asked if there was anyone else I could speak to, and the woman spoke up and stated that she was the manager. We are incredibly displeased with our stay at this hotel and are quite surprised based on the amount of positive reviews that we read prior to booking. For those looking to book in the future, please be aware that they are falsely advertising their rooms. We will continue taking the necessary steps to ensure that their DECEITFUL actions are recognized and heard. DO NOT BOOK...
Read moreLocation I stayed at Hôtel Les Dames du Panthéon, which is right next to the famous Panthéon in the 5th Arrondissement of Paris. Getting there from Charles de Gaulle Airport was easy enough with public transport, and it's just a short walk from the nearest metro station.
Building The hotel is easy to spot, it's a corner building across the road from the Panthéon. The reception area is small but cosy.
Room I stayed in a classic room for two nights. My room was on the ground floor and was quite small, but that's pretty typical for Paris. It was clean and nicely decorated, with a dark colour scheme and pops of bright colour.
Breakfast Breakfast is served in a dungeon-like room with vaulted ceilings. It could use a bit more light, and the decor is a bit strange with cartoon characters on the tables. The continental breakfast was disappointing. The pastries were particularly bad - soft, tasteless, and definitely not what you'd expect in Paris.
Service The service was pretty average. The reception staff was polite but not particularly friendly. The breakfast staff was even worse. They were often absent, and when they were there, they didn't seem very attentive. For some reason, on both mornings as soon as either myself or another person turns up he disappears inside the small preparation area and remains there for a period of time. When I arrived both mornings he was sitting at one of the tablets just on his mobile when no one was there. On my second morning, another couple was there at the same time as me, luckily, the female of the couple spoke French as she is from the French-speaking area of Canada, and she practically had to ask for various things to be given or offered. He didn’t even offer coffee until he was asked or certain parts of the breakfast bar ran out and it wasn’t replenished until again she asked for
Overall The room was comfortable and the location was great. However, the poor service and disappointing breakfast let the hotel down. With so many other options in Paris, I probably wouldn't...
Read moreMy husband, my 2 teenage boys, and I stayed here for 6 nights just recently. We arrived a bit early and the hotel took our luggage for us. We grabbed a bite to eat, and our room was ready at the time promised and our luggage had been taken to our room. We had one of the family rooms, which is 2 adjoining rooms. We were welcomed with a nice note, bottles of fresh juice, and a delicious chocolate bar. There was also bottled water in the fridge and an espresso machine in the room. The mattresses and bedding were very comfortable. We all slept so good every night. We loved that the curtains could be shut, letting almost no light in. The windows also opened, but we slept with them closed. (There is AC.) The water pressure in the shower was amazing, and since the shower door runs as tall as the shower, the entire bathroom did NOT fog up! There is a heated towel rack, but it wasn't cold when we were there. We appreciated the separate toilet room. We made good use of the closet space, which held our luggage and had plenty of hangers. Shampoo, body wash, hand soap, an amenity kit (cotton pads, shower cap, ear swabs, makeup sponge), washcloths, and a hair dryer were available. I also got an iron and ironing board from the reception one morning. Everyone we spoke with at reception was always so cheerful and helpful. We really liked the hotel location. It's away from the busiest areas, and the Luxembourg station is a short walk. The Boulangerie Moderne just around the corner was our go to spot for breakfast every morning. Prices were great and it was delicious. There are also some great places to eat very close by. Umbrellas were also available for guest use. Overall, we loved our stay here and would definitely...
