save your time and money!!
we had heard some good things about the Vietnamese food in Paris, so we found this place on Google and decided to give it a try after reading some good reviews. when we stepped into the place, we realized there was barely enough space for the four of us. if there had been any other patrons, there’s no way they would have fit inside. we ordered the vegetarian bo bun, bun thit nuong, and banh cuon. we weren’t that hungry, so we decided we’d just share three dishes. when the old lady that owned the place started to cook, the entire place was filled with smoke. on the hottest day in Paris in a tiny restaurant without air conditioning, this was almost unbearable. it took a while for her to make the food, as she’s the only one working in the restaurant. when she gave us our food, we realized each bun only had about a handful of noodles and lettuce and were drowned in nuoc mam, which wouldn’t even be enough to feed a child. when we asked for another small bowl so that we could share, she began complaining that no one in the States shares dishes and that we should have ordered one each. the vegetarian bo bun was supposed to come with tofu, but instead had bean curd puffs, which were tough, chewy, and unpleasant. there were about four pieces of banh cuon and i’m pretty sure she just microwaved it. the eggrolls in the bun thit nuong were burnt. then, she charged €1,50 each for eating in the restaurant on top of her already exorbitant prices! we felt bad for the lady, paid without complaint, and got out of there as soon as possible. we will never come back here again and neither should...
Read moreCame here upon the recommendation of a friend and unfortunately it was just not it. I really wanted to like it because it looked like a cute little spot, that was run by a little old lady. We came in on a Monday at around 12:45. There are only about 6 tables (2 inside and 4 outside) and there were 2 other tables dining there at the time. Service is very slow, understandably so since it’s a one-woman show. This might be okay if the food was good but it was not and it was pretty expensive for (less than) standard Vietnamese food.
To start, we ordered the chicken cha gio. This was actually really good and definitely the best thing we ate here. It was perfectly fried and the filling was super flavorful. It comes with fish sauce and a side of a really spicy and delicious chili garlic hot sauce. For mains, we had the beef pho and tomato rice with beef cubes. The noodles aren’t fresh pho noodles but seemed like the dry ones. The broth itself tasted like they added beef bouillon in it. Also, I don’t know if this is a French or actual Vietnamese thing, but it didn’t come with any bean sprouts, cilantro, or jalapeño. It was also half the size than what I’m used to at home so I left still feeling hungry. The tomato rice wasn’t actually tomato rice. It was just white rice sprinkled with some tomato seasoning. Beef was lackluster as well.
There are plenty of other Vietnamese restaurants in Paris. I would suggest...
Read moreWe were looking out to eat some authentic Vietnamese food. Which is really really rare in lots of cities. This is a very small restaurant. When we opened the door, I couldn't stand the stench coming from the place. We were placed outside at a mini terrace. I already had a bad feeling about this place when it comes to hygiene. We ordered a plate with fried rice. But it didn't well at all. Way too burned. And the overall taste was just awfull. I found it quite intimidating that the old lady kept staying near the table to make sure everything was 'fine'. Like she was really waiting for a direct recognition about the taste of the food. One of us had to use the bathroom. It was a very small toilet room at the back of the place. No soap to wash your hands with. And it just looked very dirty. It's kinda like one of these Vietnamese places in Vietnam itself. Where the standards are less higher. It looks like the lady runs the place all by herself. And I am sure she really does her best as she can. But, different standards, and a huge lack of hygiene.
Not sure about the criminality in the streets there. But the terrace if close to the road. So watch your belongings. Don't put them where people can easily grab them...
