It was simply terrible. We were told we had to order at least 2 dishes each even though it said it was tapas style. They were visibly disappointed that we did not each take the menu of 3 dishes for 33 euros. I live around the corner so I have wanted to try this place for months. They treated us like we were tourists that they would never see again despite speaking to them in french the whole time. The dishes were served one at a time with a 20 minute wait in between each one. Let me clarify, not one at a time, but 1 for all of us at a time! They are small, which is fine, but don't make people wait 20 minutes or more before they get the next. Furthermore, because we were sitting at the counter we had a full view of the kitchen and saw the chef licking a spoon. The food was ok, but small portions and the last fish we ate was slimy. It tasted as if it was going bad. Lastly they overcharged us for one of our orders and when we brought it to their attention they made no effort to correct the mistake. I would never recommend this place. Don't waste your...
Read moreNot good, complete fail. We reserved a table and, when booking, nobody told us the restaurant has two rounds of service and we had to vacate our table after 1.5 hour. So the waiter had been rude for the entire evening, starting from his reply “here’s the white wines on the menu look at them” when we asked if he had a white wine to recommend with our food. After barely 1 hour and a half, and out of the blue, he starts saying they need the table without even apologising much. The second time he comes he just brings the bill (we didn’t ask for it), and literally takes our dishes away before we had finished eating. We had a lot to eat, ordered wine and spent quite a bit of money. If you think everyone that speaks English is a tourist you can treat like this and cheat out of their money, well you’re just plain wrong. We live in the neighbourhood and had wanted to try this restaurant for a while… in summary, we will never come back and we STRONGLY...
Read moreI’m so happy I stumbled upon Sur Mer while strolling around the 10th arr last night looking for a dinner spot. I absolutely love seafood, and the quality of the seafood here was top notch. I had the 3 oysters to start with a deliciously paired (by the waiter) white wine, then the three course taster (note this is 32 euros + 6 euros because one of the dishes I had was lobster), then finished it off with a delicious cheese and red wine. The total meal was 79 eur, but included 4 glasses of wine. I thought this was really great value in the end, considering how delicious every aspect of this meal was. I will 1000% be coming back here on my next trip to Paris, and will recommend to any friends visiting Paris as well.
PS - this is a great place to go as a solo traveller because they have some bar seating...which might ultimately be the best seating if you are a couple as well because you can watch the two chefs do...
