AMERICAN TOURIST in PARIS: If you’re a tourist this place is 5-star! All the other reviews are wrong, stay with me, here’s why… I’m from Chicago, and I brought my family of six for a last leg of a long vacation to Paris for 3 days. We stayed right around the corner from this bakery and I stumbled upon it early the first morning right around the corner from my hotel. My wife wanted croissants so I was on a mission. Luckily this place didn’t pop on my Google search or I wouldn’t have gone due to the reviews…. I went to Frederic Sicard Bakery EVERY MORNING! Yes, the ladies at the counter are a bit “rude”, yes they don’t speak English well, yes the lines are long and the staff is stressed, but it’s because as a tourist, THIS IS WHAT YOU’RE LOOKING FOR!!!! It’s what I would consider authentic French pastries and as a tourist this is what I want. They were AMAZING and the atmosphere was if I were local, and as a visitor in their country I tried to blend in as a local. I’m 100% American but when visiting other countries I do not and should not expect them to be even 1% American. If you worked at Starbucks in America could you take my order in 100% French when the line was long and you got up at 4am? Would you seem slightly miffed or stressed?? I know I would! Don’t miss this place!!! The food is AMAZING and the attitude and atmosphere are exactly what a true tourist should look for! All you see in these pics + 1 latte and 1 cappuccino not picture was only €27!!! This is my last morning in Paris and I wanted to thank the hard working ladies at Frederic Sicard Bakery for making my pastry breakfasts something to remember!

Great when they are on their game. Not so great when something goes wrong. We came here a few times during our stay since it was 1/2 a block from our Airbnb. Most of the time the pastries were very good and tasty. My wife liked the coffee too. However, one day we asked for two croissants avec jambon et fromage (Croissant with ham and cheese). The server put them in the oven and it tried to multi-task and left them in too long. When she took them out, she noticed they were burnt but put them in a bag for us. Like "Oh well I burnt them, too bad for you". I should refused them but we were in a rush. Its the last time we ordered anything that required heating up.

INCREDIBLY RUDE STAFF! Stood in a long queue behind what seemed to be students on a school trip. Asked for one of the meal deals, and when it came to selecting the drink, I asked if hot drinks are included. The guy wasn't too sure so he asked the lady to his left and she said yes. When I got to the till, I was shown a display which was almost like buying 3 meal deals, and their excuse was that hot drinks are not included in this deal. When questioned, she said she doesn't speak English and that's why. Funny enough, I asked this in French, so I wasn't even speaking English. She slammed my food onto the counter, and the money into my hand. Poor customer services.

EXTREMELY RUDE STAFF/HORRIBLE TOURIST EXPERIENCE! ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE ". Coming from a long flight overseas I have decided to grab a few pastries from this shop with my family. Whilst waiting for our accommodation host to give us the house key ( just next door) I have decided to sit outside the cafe as It wasn't a busy day at all. Barely 1-2 customers inside the cafe. Was surprised when approached by a mature woman ( maybe owner) in a rude manner, asking me to stand up as I wasn't a customer and NOT ALLOWED to sit. SERIOUSLY??? after finishing eating our food I was told I wasn't a customer at all??? I would totally understand if it was a manic/busy day at all and people have to be accommodated but this is way over the top. I will NEVER RECOMMEND this shop at all. They don't deserve a single penny from any tourist at...

Sandwiches are small, baguettes (tradition) is priced at 1,35€ which is extreme. Staff are friendly but prices this high keep me away unless I need something urgently.

Update 24/04/2018 Sandwiches here are also VERY small and they provide minuscule amounts of actual meat; further, there's a sandwich list which I have almost always been unable to order what I want as they are "out". Personally i feel the owners should focus on not just the tourist traffic but also the residents which live here; like me. Changes you should consider making include:

Lower the price of your baguette tradition to 1,10€ Increase the size of your sandwiches Increase the meat inside your sandwiches

If the place stays the same I will go to the other boulangerie...
