Wanted to end my last night with a solid French dinner before going back to the States. Looked up Google reviews and found this restaurant. Can't go wrong with a 4.5/5 rating restaurant , right?
First of all, as I ordered my 2 appetizers and main dish, I was asked if I would like garlic bread to go with my meal. No mention that it was going to be an actual appetizer and different from the regular baguette that is served. If it at least tasted good I would complain less. 4 pieces came out. At the end, I had 3 remaining. My two appetizers came out: a 6-piece escargot and a french onion soup. The escargot had that old seafood smell. Didn't taste fresh at all. The sauce was bland and not enough to cover the smell. The french onion soup was too salty, and too much wine added in the soup. I've had better french onion soups back at home in the States. Both dishes were 1/5. The main dish beef bourguignon was served. Both salty and bland. I can taste the salt, but not the bourguignon. All the food I've had in Paris had a different level of depth and balance in ingredients. The only delicious part of this beef bourguignon was the tenderness of the meat. I was really looking forward to the dessert when I was looking at the menu at first. After have tasted the food, didn't want to take my chances with the dessert, so I asked for my check.
My overall rating is 0.5/5 as a French restaurant. Not authentic and way too salty. My guess is that the taste is geared towards tourists who are already used to salty food and not to an authentic French cuisine. The service was great, which is also a testament of how non-authentic it is. Don't waste your money here if you are wanting a true, authentic French experience. If you're wanting a familiar experience and good service with a nice atmosphere, then this place...
Read moreI had a feeling it was a tourist trap the moment we sat down and noticed all the other customers were foreigners. The only reason we stayed was because my wife insisted we give it a shot—Google reviews were pretty solid.
To be fair, the place is cozy, nicely located, and the staff was friendly. But the food? That’s where things really fell apart.
We ordered the frog legs, which were tiny—more like ant legs—and they came out charred, overcooked, and with a strange aftertaste. My daughter got the cordon bleu with linguine, and the pasta was mushy and overcooked, drowned in a bland tomato sauce. The chicken was just as tasteless.
My wife had the duck confit with roasted potatoes, but there was barely any duck. Honestly, they should rename the dish to "roasted potatoes with a side of duck confit." I went with the roasted chicken and fries, and I can honestly say it was the most flavorless chicken I’ve ever had—dry, overcooked, and completely bland.
The only semi-redeeming dish was my son’s chicken burger. I didn’t try it, but he said it was tasty and it actually looked decent. For dessert, we shared a crème brûlée. It was fine. Nothing special.
What really stings is the price—everything was way overpriced for what we got. I wouldn’t have minded paying more if the food had been good, but sadly, that wasn’t the case.
In the end, this place is all hype: overpriced, with great service, but really disappointing food. OH! by the way, tipping in this restaurant...
Read moreReally displeased with our recent interaction with the manager himself. Ordered Ravioli and when it arrived, I noticed the fresh mushrooms have crawling bugs in it. Nicely addressed to the friendly staff and she called the manager to check. The manager tried to mix the food in front of us burying the evidence! Luckily I have taken 2 pieces of mushroom on the side so I still have evidence to show him. He says ok (in French) and aggressively handed me the Menu so I can pick something else. I said I wanted the ravioli, just remove the mushrooms. (The mushrooms are obviously not washed that’s how the bugs stayed there). My partner already feels disgusted at this point and wanted to leave. Yet his order is ready so I told him maybe we can stay and wait for mine to be remade. He had salad in his plate and he says he cant eat no more as the salad may not have been washed as well since it came from the same kitchen. We set aside all fresh produce and not eat them. I was waiting for my food for more than 15 mins and we weren’t even offered complementaries while waiting. Anddd, of course our bill came with the same amount. Not mandatory but we we’re really expecting some compliments from the inconvenience and displease we’ve received from the manager himself. Not dining in this restaurant again. Not recommending to friends and family as well. They are just conveniently located near eiffel tower but they don’t offer anything better, not even...
