Location for visiting sites and a nearby supermarket is fab, female receptionist upon checking in was fab, however, regarding rooms, most rooms face the railway and the people going past in the 100s is constant, so if you're an early sleeper you will need ear plugs, and even then you hear some noise. As we had the family room there were two rooms with a small corridor, the second room had no working air-conditioning. Bed was comfortable though and I will say again the location is perfect right near the eiffel tower and the river which you can follow on foot to most touristic places during the day. Rooms are sufficient, middle class, get what you pay for style, but no cleaning or topping up of toilet paper etc while we stayed. We also booked breakfast which is in the basement with no windows and the air-conditioning in reception, the bar, and down in the breakfast basement wasn't working which meant it was very very hot an uncomfortable. Some of the cold meat even smelt off, probably due to this situation. Basic but ate enough. Also the barman, evening receptionist in one, had no idea how to make any of the drinks on the menu that we asked for. Seemed strange that we had to explain, but it tasted okay in the end and he put the drinks on the room as he didnt want to take payment. Then all seemed okay until checkout. firstly the guy on duty tried charging us 100€ for our 4 drinks, had to politely say that's not correct, he looked into and was adement it was ours, then I repeated the room number, even though he had the room cards, then he finally realised it was the wrong room. He did not beleive me at all at first. Then he tried charging us for breakfast that had been prepaid. Even though I had email and credit card proof he refused to beleive it was paid and demanded payment. Basic English skills. Of course this was making me a little annoyed and embarrassed. He wouldn't budge this time and demanded money. So I asked him to contact the manager who was luckily there. Had never seen this person before while on our stay. But with a push and with my proof, including the extra 90 odd taken on my credit card that was over the room cost, that the guy insisted was city tax just for our few days lol, the manager finally added it up and saw it was correct and we had infact paid!! I then said please print the bill from what was clearly on their screen, which i could see, for evidence. It looked like a normal bill from every hotel that said bills were all settled. So why the confusion? Drinks came to 36 finally, paid in cash but drinks we had did not match what was on the tab but price seemed around the right mark, i hope, i think. Then breakfast, 56 euros, city tax around 20 something and a credit card charge 20, finally some sense for the extra taken from my card before arriving. Were they trying to get extra cash on the day? I don't know. I travel 4 or 5 times a year and found this very odd. Luckily from the one member of staff who was very sorry, informed me prior that they are hired as agency staff and are not contracted workers. Which is fine but why no sufficient training? Are they just expected to know what to do for every hotel they work, multiple in the same week? I don't know. I feel the management have let these workers down by not making sure they are capable of doing their work well. As I left, not even a sorry for the mistake from the manager/owner no idea, and the particular morning reception guy who was on today. Very disappointed and ruined our lovely weekend away. Almost forgot to mention, while there they have a few QR codes on the desk and ask everyone to scan and fill it in and said they get a bonus or something like that if it's 5 stars, I witnessed the same thing a few times, this could be why the reviews are so good. Only an assumption though. If you go there you will see what I...
Read moreWe arrived a couple hrs early so were told to go explore the city. They offered to keep our bags 'secure' for €10. We got back to find them just sitting in the reception area. Not locked behind the door that has a luggage picture on it. When we were sent up to our room, we were just gestured over to the bag area to collect them.
The "family room" we booked was just 2 normal rooms across from each other at the end of a hallway, with an outer door we could close. We were told to keep the room doors open and close the hallway door, to make it 1 room. The bright hallway light went on and off all night so we ended up having to close the room doors to get any sleep. We had to then switch tried kids around so they weren't just left in a room across the hall on their own.
The rooms were so small there was barely any room to walk around the bed let alone open a case up or have 2 people in there at once. The shower head has to be held so one handed showering which is difficult.
Breakfast in the morning - we got there to find the only empty tables were all dirty with plates etc. A lady finally came out and greeted us and said enjoy breakfast. When I asked her to clear a table she said in a minute. 10 mins later we ended up moving dishes to another dirty table and brushing it down ourselves. My kids were upset to find the pancake machine not working ("again" according to other guests). One of the guests ended up fixing it eventually after the staff said they didn't know how. My daughter had to use the biggest spoon I've ever seen for her yoghurt as there were no small spoons left. Another staff member noticed and went to wash a small one for her which was the most help we got all stay. Seems the 2 were run off their feet trying to manage the breakfast rush on their own, not being able to keep on top of dirty dishes, keeping food and juice etc topped up.
We decided to check out and were stung the luggage charge again for our bag to sit in reception, accessible to anyone. We even had to label it ourselves. When we came back to collect the bag and wait for a taxi, I asked for our bag and was told to go get it. I had to sift through heaps of suitcases, moving them across the room to access ours by myself. I struggled with others heavy bags, not to mention I could have taken anything so hardly secure.
Others who were hours early for check in were being offered coffee etc (we were sent away when we were waiting the day before). I asked for water at this point and was sent to the toilets to get it from the tap myself.
Overall a poor experience. The rooms were clean and the location is close to the Eiffel Tower but that's about all I can say...
Read moreWe had a one night stay at this hotel so we weren't looking for glamour. We were greeted and given our key. The room was comfortable, but nothing too special. They decorated our room which was so sweet because I emailed them and said it was a celebration of my husband's birthday and first year wedding anniversary. I've emailed other hotels and they don't always follow through so I appreciate that this one did!
The room was clean, though dated. It was a bit sketchy that on our side of the hallway, the automatic light didn't come on right away so it was very dark! Overall, it's a good place for a bed and hot shower with a fantastic location to the Eifel Tower. We were concerned about bed bugs but the hotel wasn't listed on the bed bug registry and we checked for them but didn't see any signs. To be cautious, we kept our luggage in the bathroom and took showers before and after bed. We were going home after so we washed everything ASAP. So far, no concern!
Wilfred was absolutely the best part of the stay! His service and warmth was so wonderful. We were charged twice (apparently it's an American credit card thing where it shows as pending on their side but my side shows I paid). I was asked to pay again upon arrival though I told them I already paid. I asked Wilfred about it the next day and he said he would call and get it cancelled for me. He was SO busy being the only one there and having multiple guests to help but he was patient and helped everyone with great courtesy and respect. This is the level of service that is above and beyond. He helped us schedule a taxi ride (it's about an hour from the 1 airport and 75euros for reference) and when we asked for it a little earlier, Wilfred made the call. He was so pleasant and that made the stay all the better.
The hotel is budget friendly and we only had 1 day in Paris so we needed to fit in as much as we could. The location and price are...
