I want to preface this review by stating that typically I am not very critical of restaurant service but due to the high prices and very poor service I feel the need to write this review hoping the manager may see it. We went to Le Bouchon for my girlfriend’s birthday and brought the whole family with excitement. The food was just average for the price but that wasn’t the issue. The issue was our server named “Christoff” and (other servers that night but mostly Christoff). Every time we wanted something, we would need to wait at least 5 minutes for the servers to walk by so we could ask them loud enough to not ignore which was the only way to get their attention due to their constant avoidance of eye contact. Even then, we asked for more water 4-5 separate times where they forgot to bring it on top of them not giving it in the beginning at all. When wanting to order more wine or desert, it took nearly 10 minutes for them to even notice us trying to get their attention. Now yes, I understand full well after a year of traveling that when tipping culture isn’t a thing at restaurants, the service may be less than great but this was another level of server laziness. What happened at the end of the dinner was the most frustrating and shocking and left our table in silence. Christoff gave us the bill and after reviewing it, we noticed that extra items were added to the bill which were not ordered but with being in a hurry to leave at the time, we just wanted to pay and go. After paying the 240 euro for a 5 person meal, Christoff loudly and directly asked the person paying (my girlfriends mother) how much tip they would like to give him for his service and insisted that 10% was a normal amount even though through our time dining, not a single other group was asked this question when paying. Due to how forward he was and insistent of the amount he should be tipped, we felt forced to give him what he asked for. We all feel that this was directed toward us because of the assumption that we come from a tipping society and that he felt he would be able to get away with it. The worst part is, this was the worst service we have received anywhere in Paris or our travels. This unfortunately heavily tainted the rest of the night and left us feeling taken...
Read moreI was here less than a week ago looking to find a nice spot for dessert after going to the eiffel tower for the sparkle and we stopped here. I asked if it was okay to just have dessert, knowing that we wouldn't want to take up a table for dinner for someone else if they were busy. They said it was ok, but were kinda judgemental about it. They said we would have to sit outside. We agreed, luckily it was nice ish out. Our waiter refused to serve us the appetizers my partner wanted to order because they "ran out" for the night, but later we saw several other tables who arrived after us order it and be served. Then we ordered our dessert, a crepe, and 2 coffees. It was tasty, the coffee not as much, but the crepe came out 15 minutes before we were served our drinks. We wanted to eat it all at once so we waited. I'm not sure if it's an American standard to be served your meal all at once but for the price of everything I'd expect to not have to wait and let my food get cold. After we finished eating the waiter came out, a differnt one than before, and gave us the bill. He then look at us and asked us to tip him. At first I was confused because tipping isn't necessarily standard in europe, but I questioned myself and though I could have been wrong. I then asked him to clarify and he rudely looked and laughed at me and said "would you please tip me for my service?" Again, this was also the first time we saw this waiter the whole night. Despite our entire experience being mediocre I decided to tip the American standard of 20% (far too much anyways). After that I came to find out that it's common in Paris for servers to take advantage of tourists, especially younger ones like us, and insist on a tip. The service here overall wasn't worth the price of the crepe and the setting of the restaurant. I felt taken advantage of and disrespected...
Read moreMy husband and I visited this restaurant (August 30th 2023) hoping to have a decent meal in a nice atmosphere. The food was average and the price was higher than the quality they could deliver. We had: Sea Bass: no flavor, lacking salt, and the ratatouille was burnt. Beef Bourguignon: under seasoned, lacking salt, chewy meat. Truffle Oil Toast: dripping oil, way too heavy; truffle flavor was not prominent. My husband is a very tall guy and the tables are very small. Because of that, my husband always sits with his legs a little bit to the side, his legs are too long to fit under the table. Another server came over to complain about his legs being to the side…he was lecturing us over and over about that for a while!! Oh my, we heard you!!!! Well, his legs just won’t fit under that little table! I’m sorry my husband is tall!! Towards the end of our dinner, a few tables around us had a group of people who was a little bit drunk and started to be too noisy!! And then another big group said: “Oh, we need to compete with them”! (Yes, they said that and we could hear it!) Guess what? Soon enough, the noise was so high that if you were a party of two sitting there, you wouldn’t be able to hear what your partner/friend was saying. It got really bad! Overall, not a great experience! Paris has way too many wonderful restaurants, and this is just not one of them. You can definitely do better than a place like this; skip this restaurant!! We had a much better experience at nearby restaurant called “Café Fleur”! Very much...
