I had high hopes for this evening, as it was a double celebration — my girlfriend’s birthday and our 10-year anniversary. Unfortunately, what was meant to be a memorable night turned into a major disappointment.
The issues began even before we arrived. I made multiple attempts to get in touch with someone regarding a special request, but there was no response — no answer to phone calls or emails. Booking can only be done online, and I left a detailed note explaining the occasion and asking for something very small: a candle on the dessert to surprise my girlfriend.
This simple request was completely ignored.
That moment was extremely important to me, and when nothing happened, I had to go and speak to the staff directly — which completely ruined the surprise and took away from what should have been a joyful, meaningful moment. What might seem minor to the restaurant was a key part of our night, and the lack of care shown was deeply disappointing.
Unfortunately, the overall service continued in the same fashion. After the appetiser we got our plates changed with fresh ones, but unfortunately mine was definitely not cleaned well and had food rests on it so I asked for it to be changed. Our main waiter was friendly but two of the other waiters were noticeably unfriendly, and when I tried to get the manager’s attention, he looked at me, nodded, and then simply walked away without coming over. That kind of dismissive behavior is unacceptable at any level, let alone at a restaurant positioning itself as a fine dining experience.
We were only able to get a 22:00 reservation, and the food took quite a while. Around 12:30am, while we were still waiting to order dessert, the staff began cleaning, covering furniture, and clearly preparing to close. This completely disrupted the ambiance — it felt rushed and awkward, not at all what you’d expect from a “special evening.”
As for the food: it was fine, but absolutely not worth the €200 we paid (for 3 glasses of wine, 1 appetizer, 1 side, 2 mains, and one small dessert). On top of that, the outside noise from the square — drumming and shouting — made it hard to even hold a conversation.
The only truly positive aspect was the view, which was stunning. But unfortunately, a nice view alone doesn’t justify the price, nor does it make up for the lack of service, the ignored requests, or the overall poor experience.
Given the nature of the evening and how far the experience fell below expectations, I believe it would be appropriate for management to consider a partial refund or compensation of some kind. At the very least, acknowledgment of our concerns would go a long way. As it stands, we paid a premium for what felt like a rushed, impersonal, and ultimately disappointing evening.
And judging by the other reviews here, I already know what kind of reply I’ll get — something along the lines of: “We’re sorry your experience didn’t meet your expectations. Your feedback will be passed on to management.” A generic, copy-paste response that doesn’t address anything directly and changes nothing.
I sincerely hope this feedback is taken seriously with refunding, but based on what I’ve seen, I’m not...
Read moreI was recommended La Suite Girafe by a friend, and booked via the website. I emailed to ask to sit on the terrace (as recommended by my friend), but never received a reply, so I called and was told all bookings were on the terrace. However, when we got there, only a small proportion of tables had a view of the Eiffel Tower, and luckily we were one of them - so I would bear that in mind if after reading this review you still want to and go.
We arrived at 6:50pm for our 7pm booking and waited 15 minutes to get the lift up. Once seated we had to ask for a wine list, and the waitress told us we had to wait because another table had it?! Seriously? A restaurant that 'exclusive' doesn't have more than one wine list???
After receiving the wine list, we ordered a bottle of champagne. The waitress came over to ask if we wanted wine glasses or flutes - we wanted flutes, she then returned to say they didn't have any. Again, how does a restaurant with this price point not have enough champagne flutes?! In addition to that, whilst we ordered the cheapest champagne on the menu (and my favourite), there really is no excuse not to serve a 130 euro bottle of champagne in champagne flutes, especially when people are drinking COCKTAILS out of them, or even worse, when the table next to you orders 2 GLASSES of champagne and has it served in flutes, after we've been told there are no flutes! Totally ridiculous.
We didn't complain, but in hindsight maybe should of.
We were kept waiting further (it wasn't even at full capacity) and finally had our order taken at 7:45pm. Our food arrived fairly promptly, (because there were not that many people there I would imagine), and actually was very good. I had the truffle linguine and my partner had the hake. Really rather excellent, although not good enough to warrant the price tag.
Unfortunately, the whole meal with just bittered by the fact that the waitress just didn't seem bothered about our table, and actually, like it was an effort to serve us. When it came to asking us if we wanted dessert, she was suddenly all smiles, but when we declined she went back to being miserable.
The icing on the cake though, was how she changed to outright rude when she saw we hadn't added a tip to the bill. No goodbye, thank you, practically slammed the card receipt down on the table.
To summarise:
The food is good, the view is nice, (if you get the right table), but is massively overpriced for what you get in return. We paid 288 euro for 2 starters, 2 mains, and a bottle of champagne. In comparison, we went to Madame Brasserie, which is on the first viewing level of the Eiffel Tower, for lunch the next day (you need to book in advance) and paid just less than 200 euro, which included a 3 course meal (which was delicious), a glass of champagne, 2 glasses of wine, water and coffee, plus our lift ticket. (By doing this, you also don't need to queue, so worth it just for that if you're on a tight schedule.) But above all of that, the service was great. Polite, friendly, and no one was forgotten about.
In my opinion, La Suite Girafe (like many in the Paris Society group) is a restaurant to be seen at,...

Avoid this Tourist trap: I post this harsh review and critique in vehement protest at the shoddy service, shoddy food, and ambiance of the Le Suite (apparently sister restaurant to Girafe). A disgraceful evening repas, 05 July 2025. Our group included an International Wine Judge, a major Australian Hotelier and others with Hospo experience. We had all dined the previous day at Ralph’s, and the day prior L’Avenue on avenue Montaigne, tables of 8 each day. Our L’Avenue table was a total €4432 plus 10% tip. The Ralph’s table was €1243.00 We are not short of money. Both the aforementioned venues were impeccable. But now our La Suite-Girafe litany of bad food, bad service and bad attitude begins. Litany 1, no finger bowls for rinsing our fingers used to de-shell the crustaceans . No bowls to put the broken shells in. 2 30 minutes wait for a Coca Cola sans sucre. 3 Langoustines and crevettes were freezer burned. 4 Oysters, given that France is famous for its Fins de Claires no. 3, the oysters served were pitifully small, bitter, and warm. 5 Reservations by phone and email are impossible. One of our party visited the site to make the booking. 6 They promise the world (Eiffel Tower) but they deliver an Atlas. The booking promised a view of the Eiffel Tower, and indeed we did see half of it if we craned our necks. 7 We selected a range of oysters and crustaceans to start with, to be followed by a course of lobster pasta and 2x whole baked Turbot fish. Unfortunately The restaurant was out of the Tubot by 7.45pm. Also out of our selected Chablis. We did get one Turbot. 8 The oysters and crustacean platters came before our first round of drinks. 9 Then the hot dishes including the €280.00 lobster pasta dish also came before we had our first wine or soft drinks, and the hot dishes were served whilst we were still trying to enjoy the cold seafood starters. This in turn ruined the next course, as the fish came out on its own without a pasta accompaniment. 10 The manager filleted our one turbot fish while speaking to a colleague non-stop, speaking over and closely to our food spraying his respiratory droplets. Bad food handling techniques.
There is nothing fine dining about this place. It is set up to purely milk gullible tourists who need their Eiffel tower experience.
Staff promised a table with a prominent Eiffel Tower view but on the night we were bumped and informed by the maitre d' that directors of the restaurant group had asked for that table.
The steak (ordered medium rare) was over cooked. We enquired if the cow had done something to upset the chef. We took photos of the grey sad looking steak. Sadly the manager still insisted it was medium rare. Strange man.
Our error was expecting a fine dining experience when we should have expected a mass catering exercise. They fast feed (sic) two sittings at 7 pm and 10 pm. This mass catering outfit is a disgrace to the Parisian cultural image and standards.
Advice: avoid this tourist trap and save your Euro's dining on an honest Macca's Le Grand Royale Deluxe with fries. Macca's on the...
