L'Envers du Décor — Restaurant in Paris

Tourist trap. Red flags when the waitress came outside as I was reviewing the menu and enticed me to come in. I saw they had pretty good reviews but I really don’t know why. It was also more spacious than a lot of the restaurants nearby, so that’s a reason I settled for it. She was friendly up til I ordered my food. They have tablets for you to order from and you can select your language. Reg flag - unless you’re super uncomfortable speaking French, you give up authentic local dining experience and cuisine to be “comfortable”. There’s so many better restaurants around that deserve your patronage. Menu was kinda pricey, I had an orange juice, French onion soup (pretty ok), beef bourguignon with mashed potatoes. Potatoes were good but the bourguignon was too gamey for me. There were two waitresses, I had to ask for water three times in order to get it. The last time I had to stand up and walk over to the kitchen to ask, that was super frustrating. And then they had nerve to ask if I wanted to add a tip on top of my bill. No, merci, au revoir. I rarely leave reviews, but I think everyone should know about this gem. Everything was spectacular. Our French is quite limited, yet the wait staff (possibly the owners?) were really accommodating, kind, and helpful with the menu. The atmosphere was friendly, and that includes the other patrons as much as it does the waiters.

The food was excellent and very tasty. It’s a small little venue and it seems to be a place with a connection to the local or french theatre scene cause there are plenty of movie/ theatre pictures with autographs on the walls. The service personnel was very kind. We are from Germany and they do not have a German or English menu card, so the service showed us the main meals directly. Best food we ate while our week in Paris. The prices were below our expectations for classy menues like these. Absolutely...
