Visiting with my American friend to help him discouver Paris for the first time, we were eager to immerse ourselves in the local culture and cuisine. We decided to try out Le Coin du Rocher, a small restaurant nestled on a charming side street.
From the moment we stepped inside, we were transported to the quintessential Parisian dining experience we were longing for. The cozy, intimate atmosphere with its vintage décor and lively chatter created a welcoming ambiance. The server was attentive and friendly, patiently guiding us through the classic French menu.
However, the true star of the show was the culinary mastermind in the kitchen - the chef. Each dish sampled was an absolute revelation, showcasing the chef's incredible talent and passion for traditional French cuisine. My friend had the French boudin noir, a classic French blood sausage, with was a decadent and velvety delight that marries the rich, iron-tinged essence of pork blood with a symphony of aromatic spices, creating a symphony of flavors that captivates the palate and speaks to the culinary mastery of traditional French cuisine.
We would like to extend a special thank you to the talented chef as your dedication to crafting authentic, flavor-packed dishes has truly elevated the Parisian culinary experience. We left the restaurant with a newfound appreciation for the art of...
Read moreWent last night for our 35th wedding anniversary. Sorry decision. Said we spoke English so would be no confusion from start. Given a handwritten English dinner menu which was good. Bone marrow entree was amazing. A whole bottle of wine dumped on our table when we asked for a glass of 2 different wines. Main meal was just very average and my fish was not cooked properly. Waiter not happy when I said it wasn't cooked but in fairness I don't really know what he said in French. Owners appeared to know a lot of last night's guests and they had the royal treatment. We couldn't wait to get out. Waiter kept saying loudly "what you want" to us and another English speaking couple. Everytime he said it others turned to look at us. Business man using laptop next to us brushed his breadcrumbs onto my lap after each piece of bread he ate. Charming. We left and continued our night at a friendly place a little further down the street. I understand we are visitors in your country and we tried to greet everyone in French during our 8 days. This single experience was our only negative one in Paris but was sadly on our...
Read moreMy wife and I are visiting Paris for the first time and we ate lunch here, based on reviews posted to Google. The reviews are 100% correct: the food at Le Coin du Rocher is excellent!
We started with the foie gras and onion chutney, and it was the best foie gras we've ever had. Next, my wife had the lamb steak and I had the duck confit. The lamb was very good, and my duck was unbelievably good. I anticipate that one or both of us will order the duck at future visits.
In all honesty, the food is among the best I've ever had--and I've visited more than 20 restaurants with Michelin-recognized chefs.
We ended the meal with cafe au lait and Cream Brulé--both were excellent. And lastly, my wife enjoyed the wine and I enjoyed the beer.
This restaurant is a special...
