My wife and I stumbled upon La légende du canard 匠鸭传奇 during our stay in Paris, and it quickly became a favorite — we visited twice within our first three days.
Tucked just a 10-minute walk from our hotel, it offered not only convenience, but something much harder to find abroad: a real taste of home. We were originally drawn in by the idea of roast duck, but ended up ordering 酸菜鱼 (sour fish soup) and 小炒肉 (stir-fried pork with peppers). The soup arrived in a massive basin bowl, enough for two people, bursting with flavor — tangy, aromatic, and deeply comforting. The pork was tender, mildly spicy, and well-balanced.
We were so impressed that we returned two days later, this time for 蒜蓉空心菜 (kong xin cai)and 干煸鱿鱼丝(gan bian octopus). Again, the flavors were spot-on. The vegetables were fresh and tender, cooked just right, and the seasoning was rich but not overpowering. Every bite reminded us of meals back in Shanghai and home in USA. We later learned that the chef is from the mainland — and it shows in every dish.
What sets the restaurant apart isn’t just the food — it’s the feeling. The restaurant has a cozy, home-style vibe. We had a wonderful conversation with the owner, who shared stories about his background and the spirit behind the menu. Around us, there were lively tables of students, families, and travelers, all enjoying dishes that felt personal and familiar.
Also worth mentioning: very reasonable prices, especially for Paris. Most dishes were around €15–€17, which is a great value for the portion size and quality. And yes — they have cold beer to go with your meal.
If you’re looking for authentic Chinese cuisine in Paris — something soulful, flavorful, and cooked with care — this is the place. Whether it’s your first visit or your second (like us), here feels like a small slice of home across the ocean.

Read moreWe had high hopes for the Peking Duck, but the experience was a letdown on multiple fronts. The dish we received was not the whole duck as shown in the photos, but a small, pre-cut portion. To make matters worse, the duck meat did not taste fresh. The quality was not what we anticipated, and we feel the menu is misleading. Adding the point about the duck not being fresh strengthens your review significantly, as it speaks to both the quality of the food and the false...
