I booked this restaurant to celebrate New Year’s Eve, and it was an incredibly bad experience. They advertised a ‘special New Year menu,’ but it turned out to be the same menu as usual, with no real effort to make it special. On top of that, they charged for everything—water, drinks—and the food was cold and seemed like it had been prepared far in advance, not fresh at all.
The atmosphere was disappointing; there was nothing festive or unique for New Year’s. They didn’t even do a countdown, and after midnight, there was just chaotic dancing with no sense of celebration. The music wasn’t great either—just bad tracks pulled from YouTube.
The service was awful. The staff, particularly some of the waitresses, were rude and unprofessional. The food quality was also much worse than what I’ve experienced here before. It was clear that the ingredients weren’t fresh, and even the dessert tasted like it had been prepared long before and wasn’t fresh anymore.
Overall, this restaurant failed to deliver on every level—food, service, and experience. It was extremely overpriced for what we got, and I felt like my family and I wasted our New Year’s celebration here. I won’t be returning, and I definitely don’t recommend it to anyone, especially for special occasions. Truly...
Read moreI’ve been to Paris for work 25+ times over 15 years, but never in August when I knew all of Europe is on holiday. We were there for a wedding... It was an eye-opening experience to find that 75% of all shops and restaurants were shuttered until September. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that La Societe, one of my favorite restaurants in the St. Germain, was open! My partner had never been to Paris and this was his first experience. Our dinner at La Societe could not have been better - it lived up to all I had shared with him from past dinners there! The ambiance was magical (interior design by Christian Liagre), the service was perfection, the food was delicious and our waitress was above and beyond any other I’ve experienced (and that says A LOT coming from a New Yorker who travels the world 9 months out of the year)! She was absolutely incredible - engaging, knowledgeable, gracious, funny and personable. I can’t recommend La Societe enough for a wonderful dining experience. It’s gotten some tough reviews from diners that I feel maybe don’t understand Paris, but please take it from a seasoned world traveler - you’ll enjoy your experience at La Societe. It was our best meal/experience in Paris over an entire...
Read moreThe restaurant is beautifully designed and has a great vibe, but unless you're there for drinks only, there's a thousand better places to eat in Paris. The food is mediocre and expensive for what it is. The service is poor and the waitress tried to nudge us into adding a tip despite never checking on us other than delivering the food. What's worse, when we politely declined as tipping is not standard in Europe, we were confronted by the waitress and her friends at the coat check who loudly proclaimed that "tipping is standard in Paris!" It's bad enough that they try to take advantage of tourists, but doubling down on a bold-faced lie really takes the cake. I probably wouldn't have taken the time to write this review otherwise, so my thanks to the terrible waitress and her friends for...
