This was our last night in Paris, and most restaurants were booked up except this. Didn't know much about it prior, but I think we have found a gem.
The place is quaint but with a modern twist. The dishes were inspired by the chef's travel abroad and wanted to bring home the flavors. Our server Ranz was an amazing host and answered all our questions. We settled with goat cheese, white asparagus, turnip bok choy salad, and drunken flank steak. We would have liked to order the pork, but they were out.
The aged goat cheese wasn't my favorite but does have a very powerful flavor. We loved the white asparagus (1st time trying). It has a mild sweetness and paired well with the briny salmon roe and chared flavor of the grill.
We thought the star of the night was the drunken flank steak. It was perfectly medium and packed full of savory sweet marinate flavor. The balsamic shitake mushrooms thought strong by itself were well-balanced with the steak and mashed potatoes in the same bite.
Didn't plan due dessert, but we indulged in the goat milk cheesecake with fruit compote, which light and fluffy. The chocolate tart was decadent. The creme brulee custard was not overly sweet, but the sugary thick crust was harmonious together. Our favorite was the pear lavender sorbet with shortbread cookie. It was a perfect ending to a wonderful meal with the floral note of the lavender, hint of tartness from some sort of citrus and sweetness of the pear.
Lastly, watching the host, another server, bartender, and the kitchen staff, who worked susynctly in the tight space, was amazing. Another uncommon thing in Paris that they do is the "auto fill" of our water carafe whenever it's emptied without being asked.
We wish them the best success. They deserved my...
Read moreAbsolutely Outstanding. We Came Back 4 Times! We visited Le Café de Mars four times in one week because it was just that good. Every meal we had was absolutely delicious. We even tried all the main courses on the menu because we didn’t want to miss anything! The food is full of flavor, beautifully presented, and clearly made with care and love. Each dish was a highlight in its own way, and we honestly couldn’t pick a favorite.
What made the experience even more special was the service. The staff were always incredibly friendly, welcoming, and attentive. What really touched us was that the team actually remembered us and greeted us like old friends when we came back. On one visit, they even offered us coffee on the house, which was such a kind and thoughtful gesture.
You can truly feel that everyone here does their job with heart and love, and it shows in every detail, from the food to the atmosphere.
We will definitely recommend this restaurant to all our friends and family, and we will absolutely come back the next time we are in Paris. Some of the most beautiful moments of our entire vacation were spent right here, at Le Café de Mars and we simply can’t...
Read moreVery pleasant dinner to commemorate my birthday. We were greeted with a very joyful hostess which spoke perfect American English (which in Paris is rare and super helpful for non French speakers) and asked all the right questions and offered a bottle of water, so professional vibes all around. Ambience was dimly lit, very cozy with relaxing background music. We had the onglet steak with puree and shitake, and cheese burger. The shitake was oozing flavor and one of the best I have tasted! Only point that could be improved is the texture of the potato puree, which was lumpy. Lastly, for dessert we had an excellent chocolate cake slice which also served as a surprise birthday celebration (again, the servers were very kind in obliging on my girlfriend request). Definitely recommend the visit if you happen to be around...
